Official NJ Nets Watch

Their schedule isn't too bad the rest of the way, including a stretch of home games right now. Loss to Phoenix was important as they now could easily reel off 3 wins in a row. I'm hoping Detroit, Clippers and Milwaukee are far enough ahead (4 games) that NJ won't make up those games in the standings. I just don't see Toronto, Sacramento or Washington making a run.
I don't think their schedule is any picnic.
* Their next two games aren't home games, they are back-to-back with Toronto in London.
* After they return from the overseas trip, they get a 4-game homestand with GS, Clippers, Boston and Chicago.
* They close with 6 home games against 10 road games.

So I merged one thread about Jimmer in here, although I'm tempted to merge the others into one gigantic Ferdette thread since merging them all would bloat this one.

Jimmer has unlimited range, and I'm sure is already better than any 2 or backup point we have on the roster. Please tell me why that's not THE reason to draft him.

That if the Jazz have a chance to draft him, that means there are almost certainly better prospects available.

Acquiring Jimmer isn't as easy as skimming him off the top of the undrafted free agents or using a 2nd round pick (especially since the Jazz don't have one, to my knowledge). If he was, I'd be all about giving him a shot. But using a lottery pick on an unathletic combo guard with no length where we're stoked about him coming off the bench is pretty silly.

And I merged it into the wrong thread...sigh.

I'll do the honors:

I know this thread is about the lottery and our upcoming picks, but I want to know what you guys think about Wesley Johnson from the Wolves, he hasn't had a great year, but I think he has the potential to be a stud 2/3 guard, the kid can shoot, and I think we could trade one of our picks\package some players to get him. This team desperately needs a legit 2 guard and I think getting a young guy is the best route.

Thoughts?

He is definitely more of a 3, can't create his own shot, but would love to get him.

Deron's wrist is still bugging him, now his hand is bruised, his wife is about to have the baby, and it looks like Avery is securely attached to Deron's rear-end (see the 18 assists as evidence of Nets doing whatever Deron wants to get his numbers up). I see L's in the Nets future, lots & lots of L's.

Exactly what I have been thinking. Catering to D-Will makes the most sense at this point.

Toronto and NJ are in the same conference so it makes sense for NJ to tank these two just to keep Toronto from getting better in the summer draft. Williams is in Europe with the team and could still play, but if he doesn't then Raptors pick up a two win lead on NJ. They may give him 2 days off for "injuries".

On the other hand, NJ has no incentive to tank while the rest of the teams do (see New York, 2010). I thought it was just a weird scheduling quirk for Toronto and NJ to be playing 2 games back-to-back. I was actually trying to remember if they had a game earlier this year that was cancelled and rescheduled. Good to know it is not home court for New Jersey.

Let's hope Deron misses these games and then the next set of home games for NJ when his baby is born. After that, their schedule is road-heavy.

What the **** are you talking about?

Well, now that the Jazz have the NJ pick, NJ isn't really motivated to tank games.
