Official Offseason Rumors Thread

I remember reading a few weeks ago (likely on this board) that there are two potential trades DL was looking at and that one of them was supposed to happen at the deadline but didn't and it appears this trade is going to happen this summer.

I hadn't seen anything else about this comment since. Has anything been mentioned of it recently and is there any speculation of which players either trade involves?

Locke said that one of them would be a total surprise and that potentially the other one would be a free agent the jazz would go after this summer.

I think part of the reason the trades didn't happen is because of the burks injury. Had burks been healthy he would be a huge trade chip as he is on a good contract and is relatively talented. Locke mentioned numerous times that this was hampering the trade market for the jazz.

Awesome. Many thanks. And repped!!

DL needs to upgrade the roster. We're close - we really are!

My guess is one is luol deng. He has continued to mention that name.

Pau Gasol? All Star player that makes the Jazz more relevant in free agency if they get him. Badly needed scorer who can play with any of Favors, Gobert or Lyles. Good relationship with Quin Snyder. Won't have to play against Rudy ever again (except in practice.) Seems exactly like a move that the Jazz would make that makes sense to them, is worth the cost AND comes as a shock to fans.

I could have seen them consider him at the deadline last year.

From Larry Bird at the McMillian Press Conference today, indicating just how crazy this offseason could be:

We’ve talked about this for a number of years. What we have here is we have a budget and we stay within our budget and if we have an opportunity to get a point guard, we’ll probably look at it. Running around and saying you should get this guy or get that guy, it’s a little harder than you think it is. Obviously, I would like to have a real point guard. I felt comfortable when Ty Lawson was here making plays and getting up and down the court. But this summer is going to be full of surprises, I think, because of the new cap and players moving around. I think there will be a lot of trades and I think guys will be moving teams. It’s all new for all of us in this business, but to sit here and tell you I’m going to get a point guard, I really don’t know yet. There’s some out there that I really like. But Monta (Ellis) and George Hill and Joe Young – I think Joe is going to improve this summer and help us out – but we have some needs and we have some players we really like and we hopefully we’ll go out there and get them.”

It's crazy how much respect Larry got as a front office person in the past. I don't know whether he has lost a step or is just not that great in general, but the last few weeks have been a bit perplexing on his end.

There haven't been any "stars" on the Jazz for Hayward to glue. We need to get some ASAP...Glue has an expiration date.

Best post in awhile. (I've read like 27 total posts in the last month to put this on perspective)

whoever it is, they can't wait to deal with Lindsey. The sooner they do, the sooner he can turn them into a Conference Champion

do you dispute the truth of what I've said?

Lindsay didn't "make" them conference champs. He got rodney hood and a future pick for taking cap space, but them getting iggy doesn't really line up with us being a good team anyways. He is pretty old now.

Kanter makes sense, but he was walking anyhow and we got a future first put of it no way were the jazz laying him for 22 minutes a night to not play defense.

We still facilitated massive improvements to two in conference competitors.

One was good for us.
One got us Tibor Pleiss.

Iggy was the Finals MVP, broseph

Was. He is going down hill as the jazz are going up. How being the finals MVP while the jazz are in a lottery season isn't a huge deal to me, especially since it got us rodney hood.
