Official Player Workouts for the Utah Jazz

Holy crap jazz beat reporters are flooding twitter with juicy gossip following this mornings workout.

Jazz worked out Noah Vonleh in a private workout last week in New York. Jazz think he is a rotation guy from day one.
Jazz ranked Smart ahead of Trey last year. Jazz interviewed Marcus in Chicago, but it is doubtful he comes in for a workout.

Jazz really like Klimenko and some 6-5pg guy that worked out today.

So Vonleh at #5, Klimenko at #23 and Clarkson at #35?
Might be a bit high for Klimenko. Maybe they could trade back for an additional 2nd round pick.

I added a few names to the first post of draftees coming to work out. The Jazz are skipping any of the rocks they are looking underneath.

I get the feeling Clarkson won't be available at 35. Apparently his stock has gone up during workouts.

One thing is for sure - DL is a very thorough man. Have we ever worked out this many players?

Last year (70+).
Perrin said it would likely be fewer this year because they're having a hard time getting the players slotted 12-20 to come in. Most sure 1st-rounder's only do 8-10 workouts and generally no back-to-backs. But it's really not that big a deal. Most go to the combine for at least the interview portion. Then they have staged workouts in places like NY, Chicago or LA where GM's from several teams attend.

Just from a quick count on the first page, we've worked out/had workouts with about 58 players.

Maybe they will break their record. I hadn't been keeping track and missed a few workouts. Will have to rep you for keeping the first page updated.

Klimenko at 23 is an absolute reach. There may be better players even at 35.

Yeah I realized that, that was what most people wanted to see so I started updating it. Though I feel like I might have missed a few players... Not exactly sure.

That's pretty amazing. But with such a stacked draft, a few of the late-lottery to late-teen picks are going to slide and wish they had been seen by some other teams. It will be fun to see who slides.

Next Batch is tomorrow:

Aaron Gordon (F – Arizona)
David Stockton (G – Gonzaga)
Adreian Payne (F – Michigan State)
Cory Jefferson (F – Baylor)
Khem Birch (F – UNLV)
Patrick Miller (G – Tennessee State)
Roy Devyn Marble (G – Iowa)
Jerami Grant (F – Syracuse)
Jarnell Stokes (F – Tennessee)

Gordon vs. Payne should be very intriguing.
Yep. And then right after that, I'd be putting him up against Grant. I'd want to see that defensive versatility in action. It's too bad that teams can't have current players attend workouts. I'd love to see how he'd fare going from Evans to Hayward to Burks.

Burks would destroy him..... no need to embarass the dude and kill his confidence ;-)

Gordon, Payne and Grant all have 1st round talent. Should be interesting to see how they fare.

May have to trade up for Payne. Some mocks have had him going in the teens. As big as I am on Vonleh, if Lindsey decides Gordon is our man, I wouldn't mind getting Payne later (trading the #23 and #35 to move up).
