I think we'll soak up the rest of our cap space with a trade similar to what we did with GSW last year. Teams trying to create flexibility for LeBron and Melo will be calling. What are some of your favorite ideas?

Or, do you think the Jazz will target their desired FAs? Whom?

Bulls give us Nikola Mirotic to take on Carlos Boozer's $16.8 expiring.

That would be EPIC. Think he'd be a great pickup. Hell, I'd take pretty much anybody they want to unload for him. Depending on if they see Exum as a 1 or a 2 right away, if be fine with taking Lin.

Could we get Terrance Jones in a Lin deal? A pick, too? Do we want to help Houston?

That's my biggest concern with anything in the west, but particularly Houston and GSW.

Tarde Burke

Yeah with a current backcourt of burks/burke/exum/hayward, the writing is on the wall for one of them to leave. Really hope it's not Burks, but I do kinda feel like he's the odd man out. Unless Hayward gets something ridiculous like 14 mil a year and we let him walk. Don't mind trading Burke at all though.... Burks and Favors are my favorites on the team =/

Isn't it interesting that we could give Melo and LBJ max contracts without moving around a dime of salary? And they'd be surrounded by young talent. Of course it's not happening, just really interesting. Could any other team do that?

Great Thread

I'm down with doing this another year. Might as well. Won't be able to do this again for a long time, once we start handing out contracts.

We better make sure we stock up on assets. Go in to next year with the same mind set. Try to win, but accept losses if they come. No need to get any free agents imo. Deng and Parsons are interesting, but will cost too much, and could screw up our plans.

I hope this is what we do with our cap space unless we can somehow get a legit building block FA to sign here.

How many teams have cap space tho? Isn't it a lot of teams??

I really think Melo will go to Chicago. I wonder if DL will let Boozer near his youth.

I'd support a 1 year Boozer rental. Mirotic is a great player.

But I'm not sure what Chicago wants to do. If they bring over Mirotic, they have a pure stretch 4 with limited defense. Dunleavy Jr is a 3 with limited defense who can knock down 3s. And McBuckets is a combo forward who can hit 3s and plays team defense at best. Then you add Melo who's a combo forward, who plays no defense and likes to play isolations from the perimeter, and especially likes pull up 3s. There's a lot of duplication.

I'm not sure that McBuckets is there long term, but might be on the move to NY in a Melo S&T. I'm really confused with what they're trying to do. A lot of their 3s and 4s have no 2 way player potential. Not like them usually.

The 2nd rounder from Australia with the 49th pick is another stretch 4, who shoots 65% from 17 foot out to the college 3 point line.

I've been telling this to people and everyone seems to think Melo is too selfish/doesnt want to play defense enough to play for Thibs.

I'd look for another GSW type deal. Take some old scrubs on 1 year contracts and future unprotected draft picks.

I'm not a huge fan of the players mentioned so far as they're too much money and will eat up too much playing time for our youth.

I'd rather take on some combo of Thompson, Terry and Landry from the Kings for their 2015 1st rounder. If they want protection, I'd accept top three protected, maybe top five or six, but this is a deal that makes sense in that those three guys can ride the pine or play 10-20 minutes without really affecting the playing time our youth needs and we'd get a potentially huge asset out of it with the pick. I see this as possible. If they were exploring trading the 8th pick in this draft to help unload such dead weight, they may still be open to the idea but for next year's 1st instead.
