What's new

OFFICIAL Postseason race thread *Sticky*

Without the record 10 years from now people look back and say "Man. that was a pretty good team." With the record people will probably regard the 2015-16 Warriors as the best or one of the three best teams of all time and 10 years from now we'll still be talking about how amazing they were and how lucky we all were to watch them accomplish the best season in NBA history. It puts Curry up there in the GOAT debate.

Yeah people are pretty retarded aren't they?

Um, no. It is a lot less meaningless than the Jazz making it to the 8th/7th spot. I'd like nothing more than to see the team make the playoffs, but the legacy of having the best season of all time outweighs that by many degrees of magnitude.

Oh really, the record means more than a guest team? Who would of thunk it huh?

Why? The 95-96 bulls were the clear cut winner of that year and they proved it. This year Spurs are right on their heels without even trying hard AND being a new team. PLUS they continue to rest players in Pop fashion. This league is obviously the weakest it's ever been and you don't know basketball or are in denial if you say otherwise tbh.

I say otherwise.

And Curry is overrated as ****, all you have to do is pressure defense. See what happened in Spurs VS Warriors 2? They finally defended him and the little light skinned ****** shot 1-11. Not a coincidence.

Nice defense on the matter. Another bandwagon ******.

You think the league is weaker than ever? So you think physically individual basketball players are worse now than they were in the 90s? You think developmentally basketball, from the high school level to the college level to the NBA, has regressed? You think there is less talent in the NBA now then there was 10 years ago?

Yeah, I disagree. I'm on some sort of bandwagon for sure.

Oh, and I generally shy away from generalities like "people are retarded" because most people I've gotten to know are not retarded. It's an easy, simple-minded way to look at the world when you don't like something and just say "people are retarded."

I think the league is quite good right now and I think that the warriors are one of the best teams of all time regardless of whether they get to 72 wins or not (I think they will).

Curry, if he keeps playing like he is this year and last, will go down as a top five player of all time. Minimum.

What he is doing this year is unprecedented shooting wise.
This will be his second mvp season and likely his second championship.

Yes, the league is weaker than ever before. Easily, actually. It's no coincidence that before San Antonio started resting people there were a possible of 2 70 win teams, and still a possibility of both of them going undefeated at home the SAME YEAR (it's never been done once, btw)

The players, on average, are probably better individually sure. Talents like Lebron, Durant & Leonard would have been top people in the league in the 90s and 80s for sure. But the game has certainly regressed. It's softcore, whiny and greedy above all else now - There are only a handful of TEAMS in the league, and most of them don't have the TALENT to compare to the 2-3 man teams that run both conferences.

Yes, you are on a bandwagon. The bandwagon of wanting the next Michael Jordan. The same bandwagon that has been praising Kobe, Melo, even Vince Carter once upon a time, and now Curry because everyone really wants to be apart of that sensation again of seeing the "best team" or "best player" ever. And the fact of the matter is Curry nor 15-16 Warriors are either.

That's fair enough - but it does get tiring to hear Steph Curry's name mentioned in every game, even those Warriors have nothing to do with, when he's literally a glorified chucker. Has he made some insane shots this year? Sure, but it's one year and being a great spot shooter does not make you a contender for even Top 20.

You're way off on me. I hate the Jordan's, Kobe's and Melo's of the NBA. More than them, I hate the 100s of wannabes that make basketball less fun to watch. But the Warriors are GOOD. the Spurs are GOOD. Their success isn't because of how ****ty the rest of the league is, it's because of how good they are. And although people talk a lot about Curry, it's not a one man show. That team is amazing.

BTW, welcome aboard Ignacio. Despite our exchange (which is fine) I think you're making good contributions to this site right out of the gate.

I think this is the dude we were talking to at the bowling alley late that night at the mini meet up.

For real?
Nah, idk. But maybe.
I just remember that dude was adamant that curry is nothing special and what he is doing is not a big deal.

I had a discussion with someone at work about that, people saying the Warriors' and Spurs' schedule are the easiest in the league. And I said that's probably because every other team has to play both of them. I see what you mean, but the West being stricken with injuries (RIP Grizzlies, Pelicans) has really dampened it somewhat. You're right though, I'm probably being too hard on the league.

Haha, just how I chat about sports and thanks. I've been watching Jazz/Houston/Mavericks/Blazers games the past few weeks because the race for playoff contention is more fun than watching the top teams wreck shop on everyone (especially this year) and I've really liked what I've been seeing with Utah. They've really grown this year, and that *** whooping on Kobe won me over. They are my favorite underdogs at the moment and IMO the best overall TEAMin the mid-seeded West.

I certainly think it is way overblown out of proportions for sure, comparing him to Jordan and already placing him in top 10 lists is a bit ridiculous to me.
