OFFICIAL Postseason race thread *Sticky*

I think home vs the Bulls is probably a better matchup for them than on the road vs Orlando.

Probably their last shot at making the playoffs. They'll likely lose all their games after that. 41-41 probably doesn't get them into the playoffs. I could see Utah, Houston and Dallas all finish with 42 wins and Memphis fall out of the playoffs.

My predictions over the last 5
Portland 3-1 44-38
Utah 4-1 43-39
Memphis 1-4 42-40
Houston 4-1 42-40
--------------------
Dallas 2-3 41-41

Meh. Take pot shots all you want. There was an entire year of everyone on this forum rooting for a tank. So I'm not going to hate another team for doing it.

I'm actually very comfortable being hypocritical when it comes to sports. My views are not governed by reason as a fan, so **** the warriors and **** enes kanter.

I wouldn't chalk up the Mavs last game against the Spurs as a loss for them. The Spurs will almost certainly be resting their starters.

Memphis and Dallas definitely have the hardest remaining schedules. We just need to win one out of SA or LAC and were in. We might be able to get in without a win vs. them but I say we win out and don't worry about it.

Here's a current breakdown of where I see the next few games amongst the #5-#8 seeds heading.

Memphis (41-36)

They've dropped six and are in complete freefall due to injuries. They have a brutal closing stretch, hands-down the hardest of any of the rest of the teams.

CHI - W (Chicago is looking for some miracles to somehow get the #8 seed in the east, but Grizzlies grind out a victory)
@DAL - L (Dallas won't let this slip away)
GSW - L
@LAC - L (Backups against backups, LAC backups win)
@GSW - L

Final record - 42-40

Portland (41-37)

Portland gets to end the year with a three game homestand - ********. Hard to see them not making it at this point.

@SAC - W
OKC - L (OKC could very well rest guys as they're locked at #3 so this could be a W)
MIN - W
DEN - W

Final record - 44-38

Dallas (39-38)

This schedule looks worse than it really is. Dallas has grinded our four games in a row with three of those being on the road. I don't think they're going to quite melt down and make things easy.

HOU - L (Huge, huge game, but The Beard comes through on the road)
MEM - W (Griz are toast)
@LAC - W (I don't see why LAC would play starters as they're locked at #4)
@UTA - L (Game of the year for us and them)
SAN - W (Spurs rest everybody because they're jerks)

Final record - 42-40

Utah (39-38)

Next two games are at home and will hopefully see playoff teams rest guys. Not an easy schedule by any means; it's time we find out what these guys are made of)

SAN - L (Spurs will hopefully rest some starters, but these ******* just have our number)
LAC - W (Hopefully Clippers rest some guys to make this easier for us)
@DEN - W (Trap game, but Jazz sweep the season series)
DAL - W (Both teams will be on a back to back. We can't afford to lose this game - period. If we do, we have to pray for the Memphis collapse as we own that tiebreaker)
@LAL - W (Trap game #2 - Does LAL get up for Kobe's last game? Proceed with caution and ignore the emotion.)

Final record - 43-39

Houston (38-39)

Big wins lately over CLE and OKC. Easiest closing stretch out of the rest aside from the Mavs showdown on the road. Harden is lighting up the scoreboard at the right time.

@DAL - W
PHO - W
LAL - W
@MIN - W
SAC - W

Final record - 43-39

Here's your playoff matchups. We lose the tiebreaker to HOU because of conference record.

#1 GSW - #8 DAL
#2 SAN - #7 UTA
#3 OKC - #6 HOU
#4 LAC - #5 POR

My least favorite player in the league JJ Barea won Western Conference Player of the Week leading the Mavs to a 4-0 record and averaged 24pts/7ast. No D-Will or Chandler Parsons, Dirk shot 28% this week, and this dude torches every team they play.

And I think the 2 most likely scenarios for the Jazz to make the playoffs: 1. Beat the Mavs. 2. Win two more games than Memphis
