What's new

OFFICIAL Postseason race thread *Sticky*

I can't remember a more dominant game from Gobert this season. If he can play like that in every playoff game, then we'll definitely turn heads. Man, when he's in a zone like that he'll cause anyone problems.

I'm so excited to make the playoffs partly just to see if any of our guys can find another gear when the time comes for it. Like how a lot of people talk about 'playoff Lebron', I wonder what playoff Rudy, or playoff Hood will look like. Favors definitely stepped up in his one year of playoff experience albeit so long ago.

I'm going to be living on caffeine this week. Monday: Work at 3:00a-~2:00p, baseball at 3:30p, race training at 5:30p, Jazz game(2 left so I can't NOT watch. Tuesday: Work again @ 3:00a-~2, more baseball(3:30p & 5:30p). Wednesday: Work again at 3:00a-~2:00, 6:30-7:30 training then catch the rest of the jazz game. I guess I can sleep after I get off work Wednesday before the game.

Two more wins and Fish makes good on his stupid bet. Oh yeah. . . and the Jazz would have woken up and done just enough to make the playoffs in what became a throw-away year as soon as Exum's knee blew up. They better damn sure cover fish's bet after all this damn teasing. They should already have 49 or 50 wins at this point.

And what is Utah? Giving away a game at home against another team's subs...that's some really stinky bull ****.

If Gobert can't dominate on the boards and defensively, he's too big a liability to play. I don't know what his ****ing problem is, but if he can't come to play, he shouldn't come at all. QS needs to park Rudy's sorry *** on the end of the bench. Move Derrick to the 5 and play Lyles. Gobert needs to be Gonebert if he doesn't improve his game.

I mean the man speaking wisdom here. Don't be a prisoner of the moment, Gobert looked good against the Nuggets, again the freakin' Nuggets, a legit lotto team. Have we forgotten how bad he was against the elite team with elite coaching that game-plan against him? They go small and instantly eliminated Gobert effectiveness, and QS had to bench him. I mean it's fool's gold that he looks good against team that don't have the style or players to neutralize him ie the Nuggets, Lakers, Phoenix, etc, but our end goal is to win against the top tier teams and they have mostly figured out how to take Gobert out of the game for his lack of any sort of offensive game and his inability to switch on perimeter. Lyles at 4 and Favors at 5 is our best lineup to win in playoff, you can hate on this line of thinking all you want but deep down you know it's true.

Wow you work 3am - 2pm? What line of work are you in if you don't mind me asking?

Minnesota is on a 3 game winning streak and aren't resting players. They are on rest too while Houston is on a B-2-B. Minnesota should be able to put up a lot of points. They also have only played Houston 2 times all year, both times at Houston and lost by 3 points and 5 points. This is the first game they will play @ home vs Houston. I fully expect Minnesota to win.
Vegas has Houston as a 3.5 point favorite.

I stand by my post. Gobert played like **** against the Clippers. He hurt the Jazz, although he wasn't the only problem. But he's NOT a scorer; his value comes from playing defense and rebounding. Cole f'ing scrub Aldrich schooled Rudy and Derrick. Tonight he was a different player and you see what happened.

Not sure what is causing the inconsistency - fatigue? the rest of the league adjusting? confidence? Whatever it is, he needs to fix some things this summer.

With the emergence of Lyles, the Jazz COULD be a better team with Derrick at the 5 and Trey at the 4. Sure, Utah gives up some defense. But Lyles spreads the floor and Derrick is a decent rim protector in his own right. Jazz would have 5 scorers on the floor (if Exum learns how to shoot) making them difficult to defend. Not saying this WILL happen, but it's possible Rudy remains too one-dimensional. Quin already pulls him down the stretch because of his horrible FT shooting.

Last year, we marveled at his dominance the last couple of months, thinking he was a can't-miss franchise player. Now? I'm not so sure what his ceiling is.

Anyone who thinks we need to be willing to sacrifice defense is not living in reality. We need BETTER defense! We need Exum. We need to be able to shut down every position of the floor like no other team in today's NBA can do. That's what this team needs. Gobert is indispensable. Favors fits that role at the 4 way more than he fits that role at the 5. Favors is better at the 4 than the 5 in every aspect of the game. You want the Jazz to be mediocre on the defensive end so that they can be mediocre at the offensive end. Yet we have a team that has the potential to be elite, not just right now, but all-time, elite on the defensive end.

I know I'd love to watch the best defensive team in NBA history, but so many here would rather neuter our defense so that we can also have a mediocre offense. GTFO. We'll get the points we need while keeping other teams below 90ppg. We'll be the most disruptive and frustrating opponent in the NBA.

Tune in for Utah Basketball 2016-17 and get ready to believe.

Change your damn name already.

Why?
I was one of the earliest posters to declare my fandom of Rudy..........way before the draft. Do I blindly have to praise him at every turn? When a player deserves criticism, we should all have the right to criticize. Put me on ignore if you don't like me being honest. He and Derrick SUCKED against the Clippers. There is ZERO reason why Cole f'in Aldrich should get 21-18 with 5 steals.
