OFFICIAL Postseason race thread *Sticky*

They are like 3-14 or something.
Still.
Always take east over west (except for GS since they dont matter at all) please

The Magic totally BLEW it last night against the Clippers who were without CP3 and Redick.

Also, I liked it better when Houston was a car wreck. They're now the 8 seed. Why'd Rudy have to get hurt??? *cries*

Yet another update: DUN DUN DUN!!!

Last nights recap:

Suns (they have fallen off hard), Lakers and Kings lost.

While the Thunder, Mavs and Grizzlies won. This didn't break the Jazz's way at all. Bad night for Utah.

Tonight's games:

Spurs @ Sixers
Mavs @ Knicks
Lakers @ Raptors
Suns @ Bulls
Blazers @ Bucks
Clippers @ Wolves (BOO CLIPS BOO!!)
Celtics @ Pelicans (for Fish)

I really thought the Jazz had a game tonight. Crap!

OP updated.

Another day in the books. This one did not go Utah's way either.

Clippers, Mavs, Spurs and Suns all won.

Blazers, Wolves, Pelicans and Lakers lost.

Tonight's games:

Blazers @ Cavs
Warriors @ Pacers (I want to see them beat the record)
Rockets @ Nets (Rockets are on Utah's heels)
Thunder @ Grizzlies (win win)
Magic @ Nuggets
Jazz @ Kings

I think personally that the teams we should root for is, in order (and completely disregarding what I feel about these teams in the first place):

1) East
2) Lakers, Kings, probably Nuggets (not going to the playoffs)
3) Pelicans (probably not going anywhere, but still a bit worried they could go on a run)
4) Warriors, Spurs (won't catch them, even with serious injuries)
5) Blazers, T-wolves (I don't think they'll be good enough)
6) Thunder (unlikely to catch, but they could get injuries)
7) Clippers, Grizzlies (probably ending up behind these, unless they have some major injuries, but they're not far ahead, so still possible)
8) Mavs, Suns, Rockets (will compete with these teams, probably)

Last night's recap:

Jazz dominated the Knicks from bell to bell. Broke their spirit right at the beginning and never let them back in. The kept them down just like we have all wanted them to do. Good win.

Spurs, Lakers and mavs lost. That Mavs loss is a good thing. We catch up to them by a game.

Suns, Wolves, Clippers, Grizzlies and Rockets all won.

Tonight's games:

Clippers @ Bulls
Hawks @ Thunder
Knicks @ Kings

Clippers loss would be greatly appreciated. Also the Thunder travel to SLC tomorrow to take on our Jazz again. So them having a slobber knocker of a game would be awesome. I want them good and tired.

Random thoughts: The Wolves look have clearly taken a step forward this year. While not quite a playoff team they are no longer the basement dwellers. Solid step forward. Mavs are better than I thought they would be. It also appears that the playoff teams have stepped forward. GSW, SAS, OKC, LAC, MEM, UTA, HOU and DAL are the 8 teams I think make the playoffs. Seeds 4-8 will be fought out between MEM, DAL, UTA, HOU and LAC. GSW, SAS and OKC are 1-3.

Hope we don't get the 8th seed. .. we'll face the unbeaten Warriors ... this is very much a race to 7th seed for me.

I just want 42 wins or more.

Another NBA night in the books.

Last night:

It was a 50/50 night for the Jazz. Clippers lost (yes!!). Thunder and Kings won. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the Hawks gave the Thunder to much of a fight.

Tonight's breakdown:

Warriors @ Celtics (eh)
Hornets @ Grizzlies
Wizards @ Pelicans
Wolves @ Nuggets (Wolves are 1 1/2 games closer to us in the standings. win win though)
Thunder @ Jazz
Lakers @ Spurs (hate the Lakers)
Blazers @ Suns (win win, Suns are 1 game closer in the standings)

OP updated.

Last night's recap:

The Jazz once again went the distance with an elite team and fell just short (becoming a theme). The difference is that superstar.

In addition to the Jazz loss the Wolves and Grizzlies lost as well. Suns and Thunder won.

Tonight's games:

Clippers @ Pistons
Wizards @ Grizzlies
Suns @ Mavs (win win but I hate the Mavs)
Jazz @ Spurs
Rockets @ Nuggets (Rockets are a bigger threat)
Pelicans @ Blazers (Blazers are the bigger threat)

Rockets have things figured out, at least it seems like that. That is almost as depressing as losing Gobert to injury and dropping all these close games to top teams. The Jazz should still stay afloat in the 7/8 seed race though with Gobert out. Thanks for keeping this thread up to date Stoked. You the real MVP

Last night's recap:

Nuggets, Kings and Lakers won. Rockets and Wolves lost.

Tonight's games:

Mavs @ Pacers
Wolves @ Knicks
Grizzlies @ Bulls
Blazers @ Thunder (Jazz won't catch the Thunder)
Wizards @ Spurs
Pelicans @ Jazz
Suns @ Warriors (Good game for the Jazz, Suns are right behind the Jazz)
Bucks @ Clippers

So the Jazz are now the 9th seed, replaced by the Nuggets in the playoff seeding. But fear not! Rudy is improving dramatically and looks to be coming back soon.

Also here is the Jazz schedule the rest of December:

v. Pelicans - W
v. Nuggets - W
v. Suns - W
@ Warriors - L
v. Clips - W
v. Sixers - W
@ Wolves - W
v. Portland -W

It is very possible that the Jazz go 7-1 over the next 8 games. If so that will place Utah at 17-14. Then Gobert comes back and the schedule looks much better in Jan. and Feb. Now is the time, starting tonight, to build some momentum and get back into this thing.

Tonight's game against Denver is a MUST win. The Jazz are already on a losing skid, but beating Denver who is ahead of the Jazz in the standings by a slight margin could give them a much needed confidence boost! The Pelicans game was a game they let slip out of their grasp. This is one the Jazz HAVE to win because they are better. Can't lose twice in a row to two teams they're better then. Period.
