OFFICIAL Postseason race thread *Sticky*

This makes no sense. It's like backwards protection. Why would they tank if that causes them to lose their pick?

Its protected 1 through 14... so if it lands in the lotto they get to keep it... hence the tank job. They don't owe Denver anything if they don't convey the pick this year.

Am I a bad fan for feeling almost nothing for the 7th or 8th seed? Seriously, I feel the smallest blip. GSW and SAS are so damn elite. 6th or higher, please.

Yes... stop it. I would either want 5th or 8th. Why not measure yourself against the champs. OKC did in their first playoff run and I think its beneficial.

I'd rather not play SA or OKC though... they are just difficult for us and I would hate to lose to a team with Kanter.

Ya, there is no comparison between the two. OKC had three developing superstars, and would have got to where they are regardless. They were facing easier competition than the historically elite GSW. I'll take 7th or 8th spot. Why not have 4 extra games? But thinking that we're in the same spot OKC was in, or that we would "measure against" GSW in any meaningful way is delusional.

I'll reform.

I want 5th tbh. But either way this team needs to experience the playoffs. The team needs to learn those bumps. No we won't beat them but it'll be a taste of the next level.

I think we can beat the Clips. I don't think we would. But I think we're capable.

It will be a lot more meaningful and learning experience compared to the last one with Big Al greeting Tim Duncan like a gentle matador and then laughing about it at the free throw line all the series.

5th would be a goal if we had a healthy season. I think we'll have to settle for 7th or 8th. I'd prefer the Spurs cuz I'd troll the **** out of their fans for every victory we snag (and I think we could pull off one).

I think you are jumping to conclusions here. Not saying we are like OKC but developing teams need playoff experience. Even teams with budding superstars. I said it was beneficial. We can measure ourselves against them even if they are great and kill us... Could fuel our guys to commit and work harder. Or see how that team plays together and realize that is the kind of selfless team we need to be successful. May be a 4-0 KO but I'd see a lot of value in the experience and was listing just one example of how teams go through this progression.

Plus I think we could win a game.

And you never know what could happen. We had exum, Gobert, and favors all out at the same time, plus hood misses a game or two. Crazy **** can happen.

If curry, green, and bogut all got hurt (like favors, Gobert and exum) then I think we beat the warriors

I was wondering this too
He explained. It's actually the other way around. They will lose their pick if they make the playoffs, so if they are on the cusp there is motivation to tank. In this case, especially so, because if they don't give their pick away this year they never have to give it away. Sounds like the GM who agreed to that was sort of asleep at the wheel.

Oh I see.
Isn't that how it was for the jazz during the corbin/jefferson/millsap year that we made the playoffs and got swept so hard by san antone?

iirc we lost our pick that year since we made the playoffs

7th or 8th? We're a game back from the 6th seed after tonight, most likely.

Yea, in 2012. Fortunately there was pretty much nobody in that range that has turned out very good. Unlike some of the guys we could have had with that Golden State pick :(

Guys. I just realized I will be in the bay area for the first round. But probably for games 3 and 4, which would be in salt lake. If I am there for a game and it's jazz warriors, you bet your *** I will be there in a favors jersey throwing tomatoes at steph curry.
