Raja owes much of his career success and longevity to Utah, as he went from a less than 3-point average during his first 3 seasons to an 11-point scorer. He was a strong rotation players for the Jazz from 03-05, and followed that with some strong years in Phoenix. Not too many undrafted guys play 12+ year careers in the NBA and he deserves admiration for that and appreciation for his first stint with the team.
The second stint was a major mistake for both sides. The starting two guard should be someone that can create their own shot. Utah needed a two-guard who could play defense and offense, or at least had some youth and potential. It could have been Matthews, Shannon Brown, or even Ronnie Brewer. A 35-year-old who peaked in 06-07' was not the solution at the 2 for a young franchise, looking to become a power in the West and keep its franchise player happy. Bell belonged with a team that was ready to win and title and maybe he will be there. Raja's second go around was one of KOC's biggest mistakes as a GM, as it inadvertently ended the progress that Utah had made to that point and started the hopeful period of rebuilding. I hope he signs onto Miami, LA, SA, or Boston and has a shot to play 10-minutes a game or less and win a title.
