Official: Raja Bell/Jazz reach buyout agreement

Couple of people on Twitter already suggesting he'll go to L.A. I would sincerely hope the Jazz try to work out a trade first before attempting a buyout.

Honestly Bell is probably top 5 of players I'd like to see wear a Laker jersey. I hope they give him multiple years.

Who would trade anything of value for Raja? Let him go to the Lakers. He can **** up their team, talk **** on their coach and take minutes from players who deserve them. SO LONG RAJA! Don't let the door hit you on your way out.

My name is KOC_Begone and it's clear O'Connor should be fired. He FAILED to get anything for Raja. A buyout should NOT have been offered. We could have kept Raja until training camp at least. Once the initial FA frenzy is over, teams will be falling over each other to sign Raja. We could have created a bidding war for his services. As a tough veteran leader with a deadly outside shot - and reasonable contract - Raja will bring a championship to whichever team signs him. Certainly KOC could have gotten an unprotected first.

Major Fail Mr. O'Connor!

Jazz must have given him 20 cents on the dollar or something or why wouldn't they amnesty him?
If you amnesty him, you pay the full amount of his salary, less whatever his new team pays him, which if he clears amnesty waivers (i.e no-one bids for his services), would likely be the vet minimum. But if you buy him out, you only pay the buyout figure, saving dollars.

Amnestying him would just take his salary off our cap, but when it's only $3Mil or so, isn't a big deal. And if he does get a new deal somewhere, his new deal amount comes off our cap - so if he gets a $3Mil deal elsewhere, there is no cap hit. This is an advantage to Bell as well - he could pick up two paychecks for the season which add up to more than his original contract.

see ya raja Sorry to see him Suck so bad but I like Burks and Murph a lot better then bell

I hate Bell as much as the next guy, but Murphy? Really? You've already made up your mind on a 2nd round pick from Tennessee Tech that has yet to play 1 NBA minute?

You should have ended your post after mentioning Burks.

There are very few players in the league I'd rather have less than Raja Bell. I would rather have Murphy than Raja. He is not likely to take minutes from superior players, he is unlikely to cause problems in the locker room, And he is not going to be vastly overpaid like Raja.

So I see no problem with his inclusion of Murphy. ;)

I like Peter Fehse better than Raja.

1) He'd be thrilled to be on a team - any team.
2) He wouldn't complain about his role.
3) He wouldn't take playing time away from real NBA players.

Is it coincidence that this was announced within hours of franklin starting a thread about answers to prayers in the General Discussion forum? ;-)

So the real question is....

CJ or Raja?

I choose to remember Raja from his first time around. He was a tough, gritty player, who owes the Jazz a lot. They gave him a shot, and he made a lot of money because of that (add another to the list of players that came in under Sloan relatively unknown and left very, very rich men). I hope he realizes he was an *** the second time around and becomes a better man for it.

Can Murphy sit on the bench and keep his fat mouth shut?

If he can, then Murph>>>>>>Bell.
