Official Round 1 Predictions: Jazz-V-Thunder

Jazz in 5
We split the first games, figure them out, then go for the sweep, closing them out on their floor.
PG looks at Quin Snyder after the final game and says "Sensei, do for me what you did for Joe ****ing Jingles" .

The flood of FAs looking to hitch their wagons to the Jazz gravy train begins.

Utah has its pick of the FA litter, and the Jazz dynasty officially begins.

It's the first ever 5 game sweep, and it includes a loss by the team that supposedly did the sweeping.

I got frustrated the last couple weeks of 2016 after watching every televised game for over 21 years. Excuse me for getting frustrated. I just wasn't jazzgasming for a while. Think it was a culmination of drudging through the Corbin years and seeing very limited sets from Snyder, with very few adjustments or wrinkles. This season has been much better, although I still see a lot of the same flaws in our offense that I saw two years ago, and Portland exploited last night. When teams are aggressive to avoid letting us set up on ball screens we falter because the offense relies on screen mismatches and passing. Hopefully there is a remedy if OKC does the same thing. I still think that running UCLA with our roster could be very efficient in today's NBA, and all the back screens and cut would open up a lot as they are much harder to avoid than on ball screens.

I do see a different attitude and fight with this team than I have seen from any other team including the S&M teams.

I do agree that super aggressive defenses that overplay to deny on ball screens and hand offs are going to muck us up. I hope Quin has some counters to some of this stuff, i think last night was a real good exercise in highlighting things we need to address.

anyhoo for your benefit i will make the statement that we have practically zero chance to make the conference finals. If we do i will change my profile pic to a pic of me with "Douchebag" written in texta on my forehead.

Okay, I'll change my prediction and say Jazz in 7. That's the only way, they'd advance. It's funny how ppl are comparing regular season win-loss on OKC when the playoffs is a completely different story.

Jazz in 5, possibly 6. That Portland game was an aberration. Mitchell reverted to early season form, forcing up crap that had about a 15% chance of going in. If he shoots his normal % Utah could have pulled it out despite Lillard's impressive game. Utah got outefforted also which doesn't often happen, but on a back to back where Utah came off a high it wasn't completely unexpected. Westbrook will get his, but inefficiently. Between Mitchell, Oneale, and Dante, Westbrook will have to work. I actually think it benefits Utah to start in OKC. Jazz have been playing like they're under more pressure at home, and the offense hasn't been as smooth. Forget about that beatdown of GS, that was understandable considering the Warriors desire to play. Only thing important to them was Klay getting his 20. The Jazz do need Crowder to be more efficient or pass more. They are ready for this. Next stop: Rockettes.

I think people are seriously underestimating the impact of the Quin Snyder vs Billy Donovan element in this series. I have a feeling Quin is going to have the Jazz running circles around OKC by game three.

Jazz in 6 - Jazz take games one or two, three, five, and six.

I'm not going to make a prediction. I'm still too pissed we lost to Portland. I would have loved facing New Orleans.

OKC has depth. I'm amazed their record was what it was - they underachieved. If Crymelo and George shoot hot it's not going to end well, though Crymelo has been mediocre as of late and George has been chucking and so I hope that continues.

Westbrook is going to get his. He's a beast.

Mitchell needs to be huge this series. I don't know if OKC can guard him. Brewer used to be a great defender - hoping he's lost a step. Mitchell needs to drive to the damn basket in this series. Also, the key is getting Adams in foul trouble.

Grant is a dark horse - I worry about him burning us in the minutes he gets.

OKC is one of my least favorite teams (along with Cleveland and CS) and so I pray we crush them.

EDIT: I was told we would have played OKC even had we won. My bad!

Don’t be pissed they lost to Portland.. be pissed they lost to the hawks twice.

I think if we can win the rebounding game the Jazz can win this in 7. Mark my words, it will come down to rebounds. Keep stevens off the boards, and have gobert+favors 1-2 punch eat melo in the PnR. Force westbrook to take jumpshots, and make sure you contest everything that PG takes.

The refs will not be kind to us in this series, but I have faith that Snyder will have a pretty damn solid game plan set and ready by sunday. It's up to the plays to execute.

Here’s my thoughts: -Official prediction: The Jazz play well in the series said:
Well, not having followed this Jazz team much this year like you clowns, I'm giving you an unauthorized assessment of what the Jazz have to do to beat the Thunder and move on to the 2nd round!
The Jazz need to keep Westbrook from scoring 40 points and adding another triple double to his resume! Best case scenario is force the ball into Cry Mellows hands and watch him go 4 for 20 from the field! Mellow is one of the most overrated played in the history of the NBA and will be exposed as such every time he gets the ball no matter where he plays, home or away! On offense the Jazz need to hit a decent amount of outside shots so as to not to put all the pressure on there defense!
Is this a winnable game? Absolutely! If they execute like there are capable, Jazz in 6!
