OFFICIAL: Trade Deadline Thread

Kings send T. Robinson, F. Garcia, T. Honeycutt to Houston for Toney Douglas, Cole Aldrich, Patrick Patterson & cash, USAT has learned.

Are the Kings run by 5 year olds?

I told myself, " Self, don't be disappointed if the Jazz do nothing."

But if the Jazz do nothing and Houston just stole Thomas Robinson for nothing then me and myself are going to feel a little angry.

Toney douglas plays undersized sg in a pg body. So this trade frees up the Jimmer to return to Utah. Just Sayin.

Daryl Morey - GM of the year.
There's not a close second.

Signing Lin, a point of comparable talent and upside to their incumbent, Kyle Lowry, making Lowry exependable.
The Lowry deal to get Toronto's first pick, which eventually became a key piece in the Harden trade.
What looks like a terrific gamble on Omer Asik.
The Harden trade.
Getting Thomas Robinson for a couple dime-a-dozen stretch 4s.

Amazing.

The 4-year contract he got Chandler Parsons to agree to in December of 2011 was also great.

My gut feeling tells me that statistical analysis in sports is overrated. There's a place for statistics, but guys like Popovich and Belichick I believe are wired differently than everyone else in the same way that Warren Buffett is. From what I understand, (and I really don't understand much to be honest) it's all pretty qualitative.

The Rockets are set for the next 5 years atleast.

Neither of those guys can win without talent. Morey's done a very good job acquiring talent.

Stability is what got Celtics, Heat and Lakers their championships recently right?

Well the Heats didn't win the championship in their first year. Celtics and Lakers were able to repeat their Finals appearance because they stuck together. You don't see Kupchak trading away Kobe. You don't see Ainge trading away KG, Pierce, etc.

If Morey can keep this group together - good for him. But I get the feeling he gets itchy if he doesn't make a trade at the trade deadline (6th year straight now).

.. so we'll just have to see.

What key players or potential key players of contenders has he traded? Has he had sufficient talent to grow a contender at the time of any of these moves?

Heat made it to the Finals their first year and won in the second.

Celtics made it in their first year.

Yes Lakers kept their superstar player Kobe that is kind of a given

Stability is what got Jazz their championship right?

Basketball does not need stability it needs good players. Other sports stability is valuable, not basketball. Look at what one and done players do in college.
