Official UofU homer thread

So, Fish, I reread this whole thread trying to figure out what went wrong with us.

First, holy crap Cy. Good job. You won man. I can't believe how I reacted to you. Dude, you got me.

Second, on page 36 you tried to show that BYU fans are better than Utah fans.

No one cares. I was treated poorly by BYU fans growing up. Told I was a bad Mormon, stupid, Tex for rooting for Utah. **** em. You ain't gonna convince me of their virtues.

There are always exceptions to the rule and you are the exception. Most BYU fans are assholes.

Anyhow, you said you were going to ignore me. Ok, whatever.

Then on page 57 I called BYU a bad team, which they are. You flipped and said "**** you" and then said I was the worst kind of fan.

For saying BYU was a bad team.

I must have done something to you in a previous thread, because you snapped on me big time.

For whatever I did to offend you, I'm sorry.

You don't have to like me. That's fine. You can ignore me. That's fine.

But you will never convince me that 90% of BYU fans aren't poor, uneducated, bible thumping, reality ignoring, inbred assholes that somehow stupidly think that religion helps them in football.

They are morons. And clueless. They have so little knowledge about football. It's pathetic. Their team has never accomplished anything other than 1984 when their best win was over a 3-7 Pitt team. Michigan played their third string QB and BYU barely won. That 1984 team was mediocre at best.

Anyhow, screw BYU. I have nothing against you. I think you're one of the best posters around here.

If you don't like me, that's cool.
Thanks for this post. I really do appreciate it. For what little its worth I was drunk as hell when I told you to **** off and I felt that saying byu is bad team is a little unfair (I think right now they are ranked 27).
It was the first time in about a month I had a drink and was in a foul mood to begin with.
Sorry for coming at you like that.

Sometimes im over sensitive and get butt hurt. It happens every now and then. Usually afterwards I reign it in for a while...... Until the next time. It's a work in progress. (Tbh, it probably always will be)

So I'm sorry and ready to move on with no grudges held

As bad as USC looks right now.....at least they don't have Cody Kesler running the read option. What is/was ASU doing? Bercovici hasn't rushed for a yard in his life. He looked fine when they just dropped him back to pass. If they just use some simple play action and don't complicate it with that extra read they would be much better.

USC is a talented and dangerous team, but somehow I am not feeling the anxiety I felt leading up to both the Cal and ASU games.

I was nervous about ASU because their D-Line is legit and was able to make Booker a nonfactor through most of the game. They are the 2nd best rush defense in the pac-12 behind us. Meanwhile USC's defense looks average at best. Sure USC has legit talent in the passing game but with their question marks on defense I could see Utah's offense put up big numbers on Saturday while the Ute defense continues to do their thing, i expect a double digit win.

You know what USC should really do this Sat? This:

https://www.ocregister.com/articles/usc-688402-browne-coach.html

USC could be expanding the role of one of its most explosive athletes.

Starting cornerback Adoree’ Jackson spent most of practice Tuesday playing wide receiver. Like the rest of the offense, the sophomore wore a cardinal jersey.

Interim coach Clay Helton said the move was made mainly because USC’s receiving corps is banged up.

Jackson’s snaps on offense have been on the rise. After playing a season-high 30 offensive snaps against Washington, Jackson was in for 26 plays on that side of the ball in USC’s 41-31 loss to Notre Dame last week. Before that, Jackson hadn’t played more than nine offensive snaps in a game this season.

When Jackson gets the ball, good things generally happen. Jackson had one reception against the Fighting Irish, and it went for an 83-yard touchdown. He has 11 catches on the season for 279 yards – a 25.4-yard average. Almost all of his 279 receiving yards have come after the catch.

But I'd even up the ante a little more and try not playing him on defense at all unless SC's corners were getting absolutely toasted. Utah doesn't want any part of that kid for 55-60 snaps on offense. He's unguardable, especially with JuJu Smith on the other side. That should be their gameplan for the whole year really because their defensive problems aren't solvable for the time being. Just load up the offense with all the guys on the team that are good offensive players even if they are at other positions currently and try to outscore everybody. I think they could win a lot of games if they played like that. At least do much better than the .500 football they are playing right now.

Yup. D-Line is the main problem and then their backers aren't that great either yet - the ones that actually have potential outside of Cravens are buried on the depth chart because they don't have a clue how to actually play the position correctly yet. And since those two positions aren't getting adequete QB pressure, their DBs then look like trash too in coverage because even Deion Sanders had a time limit to how long he can stay in front of somebody if his defense wasn't getting pressure. USC only has 4 picks on the year.

If we face the same team that gave up 41 to Notre Dame then I really like our chances.

But when you have that much talent, you never know which team is gonna show up.

Moving Jackson to offense full time is interesting. I don't think it's a great idea for USC vs us. We are too good with our front 4 and bump and run coverage.

I don't think that Kessler will have enough time in the pocket to really use those two at WR.

So, you move Jackson to an area you can't fully utilize him which then weakens your CB's.

Wilson was a surgeon vs ASU. It was beautiful. If he plays like that the rest of the year, there is nobody that can hang with us.

USC is too young and we are too experienced. This game is nothing to us. We've played and won everywhere. The Colliseum filled with moms and their nannies and kids is nothing.

We will hit them hard, they will fold and we will win.

I honestly think this move weakens USC vs us due to matchups. Our DL and CB's are too good. Our QB's are too good.

Yep. I love it.

If we win this game Chris Hill needs to give KW a raise and announce that Utah will match his salary to the highest paid HC in the PAC 12.

Utah needs to put KW to USC speculation to bed in order to maximize recruiting success and send a message that Utah is an elite program who's coaches can't be usurped. If we win this game the KW speculation will only intensify.

No need to do it now. It would be more dramatic and celebratory in the offseason. Or before the playoffs right after the PAC-12 title game. Have a Kyle Whittingham day, let him sign the deal, big celebration, mention statues, etc.

The biggest surprise to me this year has been the secondary. You can always count on Utah to have a good front 7, but this secondary has been a revelation. Hatfields return just made an already great unit even better. When you are at the game you really notice, those deep routes with one on one coverage, our guys are all over them. Tevin Carter is an absolute stud. I bet a bunch of these guys are playing on Sunday.

I really hope they show up on Sarurday. If we can get past the Trojans then I may finally start believing that this season could be something really special. You don't beat Cal ASU and USC back to back to back unless you are a really good team.

The way I see it, a win on Saturday and we can still afford one slip up on our way to Stanford. That'd have me pretty confident.

But teams like USC aren't prone to losing 3 in a row. Come out fast and hit em hard. Make them not even want to play the game, if they get comfortable it could get ugly.

Go Utes!!

(The fact that I made this post guarantees a loss :( )

I agree about the secondary. Very very good and important part of the utes team. Under-rated too imo.

Shah has been one of, if not our best position coach, which is awesome considering all the crap he has gotten. All he does is take players that have never played CB and turn them into NFL guys. It's remarkable.

When I did my 11-1 prediction before the season started, it was thinking that Domo would be our starting CB. He is special. He shuts down NFL caliber receivers. He is special. The best CB since Weddle. He changes our defense. He allows Williams and Carter to roam free and make plays. Love the kid. Feel bad for him. Yeah, he made a mistake, but you can't tell me if he was a white kid that he wouldn't have gone through a completely different reality. He was screwed over big time.

Glad to see him fight through it. He has a chance to do something special with his life. Let's hope he takes it.

Man, I wish this game was tonight. This game has me worried. We should win. Those are the games we struggle in.

I think if we are physical the game is ours.

Stinking Cal. We could have put the south away last night if Cal had won. Can't believe how good Rosen looked last night.
