Official UofU homer thread

Lol @ Utes fans who aren't pumped about that win. Road win against a good team. Wilson came up huge on a few runs down the stretch. He's the best QB we have. I wish we had a better one, but I'll take the one we got.

Enjoy the season bros!! Winning ugly isn't a fluke for us, it's actually how we play. We are in the middle of an awesome season and people are mostly complaining!

Oh I bitch and complain during the game voicing my frustrations but I am very aware and appreciative of this season. Beating the Huskies for the first time and on the road none the less, being 8-1, having one hell of a LB core one of the best as a group IMO and Booker my gawd is he a stud, again one of the best RB's the U have had. Sucks that Chase went down on that last play, guess it's a broken ankle and about a 4mo recovery from what I've heard, will be interesting to see what that means for him next season. Speaking of next season that is another reason to be VERY appreciative of this season, loosing all 3 starting LB's a couple of the DL and a couple of the DB's, losing Booker, losing Covey, there will be a lot of Senior turnover off of this team and while I believe in the U and who they have coming in I have a hard time believing they'll be able to put together this kind of season. Next year a winning record will be a good year, or at least what I know at this point about next year.

So appreciate this win and this year for what it is a good year, not always pretty and generally closer then it feels it should be, but a win is a win is a win is a win is a win is a win is a win is a win.

I'm not complaining I'm loving this year. I was worried about that game, I thought Washington was our biggest challenge left. I think we match up much better with UCLA than with Washington. Plus we get them at home. 3 more wins Utes then go get Stanford.

Whoever lost that game was going to be mad about the refs. Not a well called game, it went both ways.
I loved that they were booing a holding call. Then they show the replay and the O-lineman tackled a Ute opening the hole that the RB ran through. It was so obvious every ref would make that call. But the Offensive PI call was pretty bad.

I thought it was a great win, I don't give a **** of how we win just that we do. Wilson is 100 % the best qb on our team and we're a much better team with him than with out. He's the first 4 year starting QB in Utah history, pretty impressive to me.

They get away with that screen play if he doesn't stick his butt out. It looked way worse in real time than it was in slow mo. Washington is going to be pretty damn good next year. I could see them winning the North.

Shouldn't defensive lineman just fall onto their backs, pulling the o-lineman down on top of them every play then? If an o-lineman pancaking a d-lineman is a hold then it seems like just falling backwards and letting the o-lineman appear to tackle you would get you a bunch of holding calls

He tackled him after being beaten, the guy he tackled makes that play without it. A pancake is different than a Tackle/hold. The defender was trying to move away from the O-lineman, not get through him to a RB. When the guy tried to get away the O-lineman tackled him it was an obvious hold.

That wasn't the bad PI call. That was the correct call. In the late game they called PI on a receiver who may have slightly pushed off, but it shouldn't have been called.

Maybe I am wrong but the hold or PI doesn't happen if the refs spot the ball correctly when WA went for it on 4th and 1, the QB IMO never got past the line of scrimmage.

I keep forgetting that not being crazy pumped about mediocre QB play equals complaining and not appreciating wins.

Lucky for me I have LOLGLI to remind me. Thanks LOLGLI!

You took the words right out of my mouth. Nobody's more excited about the 8-1 record Utah is currently sporting, but that doesn't mean I blindly have to endorse Travis because he's the "best QB we have". The fact that he's our only viable starter is so depressing and rather inexcusable tbh.

I'm delighted we're 8-1 and still in the playoff hunt. The week between each game seems like an eternity. I'm pumped about the season, I'm pumped about our D, and I'm pumped about Booker. I'm less enthusiastic about Wilson.

It may be easier to swallow if Wilson were just bad all the time, but every once in a while he looks absolutely brilliant, for a short time, and I'm left to wonder why it can't be like that more consistently.

Also, as long as I'm a complainer, let me throw this out there. I cannot recall a receiver that takes more steps backwards after a catch than Scott.

Yeah he's gotten worse at it this year. It's almost like he's tryin to play more like Covey. Scott ain't a little squirrelly dude, but he doesn't seem to know that.

You saw it different than me. I saw the o-lineman plow into the d-lineman and knock him on his *** and land on top of him

I'm happy we won and are 8-1 but I think it's perfectly reasonable to be a bit concerned about the team, it feels like we've regressed in certain areas. We were aided by a young Washington offense making mistakes in order to put points on the board. We could've had this game over by halftime(the last drive was 4 plays that resulted in a total of 3 yards was one of the worst offensive drives of the season). The 3rd down defense was pretty poor, we gave up a lot of big plays letting Washington extend their drives. Wilson is making plays with his legs but his pass game seems to have regressed even more, and he is still not seeing LB's dropping back in coverage. Overall I'm happy with a big road win but letting teams hang around will probably bite us in the *** by the season is over. Because our offense can flatline at any moment it's just going to continue to put more and more pressure on the defense, I hope they can keep it up but wouldn't be surprised if they eventually wilt under the pressure.

Watch it again his hands were clearly outside where they should have been.
I want to watch it again and maybe you are right. I didn't record the game though so I don't know how to watch it again

Regardless I often see offensive lineman pancake dudes and get called for holding because the ref figures that if they go down with the offensive lineman on top then it must be holding somehow.
