that's what happens when you leave it up to a bowl committee that asks what have you done for me lately

Before I sign off for the next few weeks, a few things to get off my chest:

- **** you PAC 12 for lowering the allotted amount of PAC 12 tickets available to purchase at the Vegas Bowl (this happened a couple years ago). Now TDS gets about 4,000 extra tix.

- **** you Vegas Bowl for naming BYU a week earlier, thus giving their fan base an extra jump to prepare to attend one of the earliest occurring bowl games. Cheer up Vegas area wait staff. While there will be more Cougar fans down there, the Ute fans will tip you more than 10%.

- **** you Vegas Bowl and PAC 12. A repeat appearance in a 5th/6th place bowl is the best you can do for a team that went 9-3 and its fans that will travel better than Oregon, Wazzu, Washington?

- Ok, on to the game. Bronco's leaving, BYU's gonna be pumped outta their mind, Utah finished the season banged up and lackluster, etc. My silver lining to this screw job is that maybe this will finally wake Whitt up to the fact that maybe, just maybe, HE NEEDS TO PAY MORE ****ING ATTENTION TO THE FACT THAT WE CANT THROW THE FORWARD PASS!! And for all you BYU fans that think you guys are gonna have your way in Vegas: All Utah needs to do is watch the Missouri game film to see how a team with a stout defense and a horrible offense beats BYU.

- Even if Utah wins, I'll be too on-edge to come back in here and talk with BYU fans (except for Root4). I've seen a troubling amount of Y fans try to tell me that BYU "beat themselves" following a 54-10 beat down and that Brandon Taylor assuredly "must have instigated something" to lead to him being suckerpunched. That fanbase is unreachable during 4 straight losses and 9 of 12. They are unreachable in the face of nut punches, alligator rolls, blown ACL's, and sucker punches under the hoop. Is a loss to Utah in the Vegas Bowl suddenly going to make them understand their team's place in the world? Obviously not.

Everybody have a happy and safe Christmas season and a great New Year. Win or lose, hopefully by early 2016 I'm in a better mood and able to return and chat with you guys in a positive manner.

Couldn't broncos departure also create some turmoil, uncertainty/sadness and make the team overly emotional?

It could, but in my last post when I said the only BYU fan I can talk to was Root4, I actually meant to type Fishon. So there's that.
Thanks bro.

And fwiw I agree with you that broncos departure is more likely a positive for byu in this game than a negative.

I feel like byu should win this one but I'm still nervous and skeptical. Whitt and utah has had bronco and byu number for so long that I can't really feel good about our chances

You mad, bro?

You mad, bro?
Why shouldn't he be? Utah got screwed big time. They play the 6th place bowl with a 9-3,6-3 record. Not only that they get stuck playing a motivated team known for being cheap shot artists. And it's the 2nd year in a row they play in this bowl despite a better record/weaker conference. Complete BS. Imagine the fans feeling this way, now imagine how the team feels. I would not be surprised if Utah gets blown out. There is no incentive for them to feel good about playing in this POS bowl game.
.
Only plus side is that every decent team with a run game and defense has beaten BYU this season and Utah has both of those.

It would have been great to play Wisconsin in the Holiday Bowl but the Utes have no one to blame but themselves after finishing 3-3 and losing out to USC. What’s left? The Sun Bowl against Miami would have been just barely okay, nothing to get excited about, and then UCLA plays 5-7 Nebraska in Santa Clara. Seriously, those were the realistic alternatives. BYU is a better opponent than either Miami or Nebraska. Let's stop whining about what could have been and enjoy a unique event in the history of the rivalry. Everybody can relax. Utah is not getting blown out, they have a better program, a better coach, and better athletes. Utah wins by at least ten points.

How is BYU a better opponent than Miami? Gionni Paul said it himself he would have much rather faced his former team.

I'm just going to enjoy this match up, it's done and over with now and like stated before we kinda deserve this with how bad we **** the bed....I couldn't even watch the Pac 12 championship knowing that we were in complete control of our own destination....but this match up allows to make memories with the brother, pops (he's a Coug fan) and the uncle.....should make for an interesting pre Christmas road trip.

Of course Paul would rather play his former team, that's not surprising. Miami (8-4 and fifth place in the ACC) in the Sun Bowl would just be a downer of a game for me. No real upside and no lasting value. Much rather give BYU a good beat down. A win over BYU, especially in the first and possibly only bowl game the schools will play, could be savored for years.
