Official UofU homer thread

Just saw that Helton is making a QB change and going with his freshman.

Utah has to take advantage of this. Friday night prime time game, bad weather, noisy home field advantage, defense coming off a 10 sack performance, and a Freshman QB making his first start.

Yup, need to rattle him early.

I'm too lazy to go back through Twitter and link everything but here's the long and short of it: Supposedly there was a physical confrontation with Helton and a player. Some are reporting that the kid in question (EJ Something or other) punched Helton in the face. Some are denying it but it sounds as if there was some sort of physical run-in between the two. Helton had a late afternoon press conference yesterday and didn't look black and blue FWIW. However, he did announce that the EJ kid is transferring from the program. Now there's rumors of a mass exodus of USC's prized Freshman/Soph's transferring from the program at season's end and all of the worthy underclassmen declaring for the NFL so they can get out of there. I don't think it will get to that point because if all of these players are that unhappy with Helton, USC will just pull the plug on their HC and go out and try and find a big name to appease all of the divas. The inmates run the asylum there.

It's also funny to read Ute transfer Stevie T's quotes about how he's been telling USC's coaching staff about our O-line personnel and their weaknesses. The kid is popping off at the mouth just a bit too much. Listening to an interview with John Pease and it sounds like there's some serious bad blood in the Utah building with Stevie. The kid came to Utah as a walk-on with quite a bit of academic struggles and a ton of people on and off the field invested a lot of time in him. Considering that he was going to be a regular in the D-line rotation, the coaching staff and players feel extremely burned by the move he made to USC. That O-line was motivated enough already to beat his *** and now he's on Twitter talking **** on them.

Utah needs to come out on fire. There's just too much opportunity here for them to come out flat and not get rolling until the 2nd quarter. I've already said it earlier in the week, but IMO, there's a lot of onus on Whitt and this coaching staff this week. This team absolutely needs to be ready to play from the opening whistle. That may sound obvious, but it hasn't happened yet this year.

I don't know if USC is ready for Sack Lake City! Have a good feeling about this one, we just gotta finish drives better.
