Official Welcome to Utah Al Jefferson Thread!

Can someone clarify what this means?

Utah orchestrated a sign-and-trade with the Bulls for Boozer so they could get some $14 million in a trade exception for a deal just like the one they have agreed to with Minnesota. Jefferson has three years and $42 million left on his contract.

Do the Jazz pay him $28 million for three years now?

A 13 million dollar trade exception means the Jazz can take up to 13 million dollars in salary without having to give any back. It's the "completion" of the Boozer trade. They "traded" Boozer for a second round team that had Cap Space. They gave us the 13 million dollar TPE. We then shopped around for the 13 million player we wanted to "equalize" salaries because Chicago didn't have him. I'm simplifying, but that's the gist. We still pay him his entire remaining contract.

Jefferson and Williams is an awesome young core to build around. Let's hope the wheels hold up. Here's to you Mr. Jefferson! Welcome to the SLC!

I am trying hard to remain objective but so many people are excited about this trade that it's hard for me not to get excited.
Welcome, Al.

I'm starting to get pretty excited about this. I've honestly thought that Al Jeff would be a good fit with Utah for a while now... excited that he is going to come here and fill up the hole that Boozer couldn't fill.
