Offseason Plan/ Draft/ Trades/Free Agency

1) Trade Millsap for top #3-#5 (perhaps Wizards) and pick up Drummond. Its simple to me: Millsap will garner the most trade value and Favors time has come. If Jefferson garnered more trade value I would move him, but as it stands Al is a better low post mentor for Favors/Kanter/Drummond. I love Drummond as an upside pick.. most scouts agree that he has the body to have the most upside of anyone in this class. We can take that risk.

2) Trade Devin Harris to Portland for #11 and pick up Lillard or Marshall.

3) Trade Bell which will give us $37M on the books and $21M in cap space: How? We drop $19.3M but ad $6M in draft picks. $50M-$19 + $6 = $37M

4) Sign Eric Gordon: We now have $21M under the cap. With this I go whole hog after Eric Gordon who is a potential AllStar SG. Of course people will say that Nola will keep him, and that is of course possible if not likely. But if we offer NOLA our GSW future pick could we pick him off and will they agree to not match and do a sign and trade. If it is possible we could also give them our $10M exemption for them to use we could add that as well. (Also, and I would like some imput on this, but I would offer 4/$44M and try to give $20M in year 1, so that the final years are averaged at $8. Can that be done? It allows for more cap wiggle room in years that we need to reup our young players.)

5) Sign Andre Miller to a 2yr/$10M contract.

New lineup is young, athletic, talented inside and out while also having sage veteran leaders.

We turn Deron into: Favors, Kanter, Burks (by keeping our own pick last year by missing the playoffs with the Deron trade.), Lillard or Marshall (Harris trade), Erick Gordon (w GSW pick)

Andre Miller/Watson/Lillard or Marshall
Eric Gordon/Burks
Hayward/Carrol
Favors/Kanter
Jefferson/Drummond

6) Sign either Brandon Rush or Novak.

I know this assumes certain things like the Wizards being willing to take Millsap (not unrealistic) as long as they don't get a chance at Robinson. It assumes that Portland would want to trade a pick for Harris (although if they use their #6 pick do they really want 2 rookies while trying to compete?) They aren't resigning Felton and need a legit pro who is good with the pick and roll... Harris fits that bill. Also, I assume NOLA would be willing to do that trade but my question is does Gordon really want to resign with Nola? They passed on paying him once, and if they are picking #4 or higher they are likely to take a wing player like Beal. If that happens they might look favorably at getting another lottery pick since they are not ready to compete with Gordon now.

Thoughts.

Millsap gets a 3rd-5th overall pick? Not even in Candy Land does this happen. Draft picks are always overvalued before they touch the court because they have potential.
Same goes with Harris. He could possibly get you a pick right outside of the lottery, but even then I wouldn't be surprised if you are looking at getting a pick in the 20's.
I don't know how you are trading away all these players without getting salary in return.

You beat me to it. Love how fans can make it sound so easy.

Trade Millsap+Jefferson+Harris+ Bell+ (3) 2nd rounders+ GS pick+ future first rounder

For

Anthony Davis

See how easy that was.

NOLA just got a new owner. No way he's going to let their best player go unless Gordon gets a ridiculous offer.

Gordon won't get a ridiculous offer because he has the potential to get a good/solid offers. As I see it the only way we pull him away is if we offer them something they want. GSW pick I think can do it, but only if they are excited about who they picked up in the draft.

That said: It may be ambitious to expect a #3 pick or even #4, but I do think #5-#7 is possible for Millsap, and that may mean Drummond is gone but I think Millsap could get that. Also, I think Devin could get the Portland pick. Also, if we shipped Devin and signed Andre Miller wouldn't it be implicitly obvious to Miller that he would be signing to be the starter. I think Miller would do that because he would be allowed to be the man on a team instead of an ever dwindling situation in Denver or elsewhere.

I'd love to trade Bell for a 2nd round pick even if its the last pick of the draft or for a draft in like 5 years.

Despite his age, I'd love a trade involving Jefferson and filler to Boston for Ray Allen, filler, and one of their two first round picks.

Because of his injury history I don't think Gordon will get max, but it will be close. Because of his injury history, I really don't want the Jazz to sign him.

We shouldn't be looking to trade Millsap, we should trade Jefferson for sure, though. If we can find a way to dump him without bringing back a ton of salary, then do it.

How is it that somone has already touched the ceiling of off-season stupidity? I would have thought we needed to wait another two or three weeks for a boner-inspired **** job like this OP.

Chances are pretty high for 5 of those things happening...probably even in that exact order...but come on man, all 6, now that's crazy

Why don't the Jazz just morph like a ****ing Power Ranger into the Wizards, accept the Millsap trade they sent earlier, then morph back into the Jazz with their new player? Dude, this is brilliant.... why don't we just make it Jefferson instead? Or, Bell?

If anyone would give us a 3-5 for Sap, then we should throw in the local OWS crowd as filler to be nice.

Let's talk about Millsap to the Wizards: They realized this year that all that young talent was killing the growth and maturity of their "potential super star" and so they shipped off two immature players: Nick Young and McGee. Mcgee they shipped out for an overpaid C/PF with an injury history in Nene. Think about that.... Millsap in his prime at PF to pair with Nene and Wall... sounds better than picking up Drummond who could be the next Mcgee.

I think it is possible if they pick 4 or 5 and the players they prefer go ahead of that, and if they don't want to risk the potential downside of Drummond. For example lets say draft order is: Charlotte, Nola, Cleveland and the picks go in this order: Davis, Robinson, Beal... If the Wizards feel those are the best three wouldn't they look to make a more meaningful upgrade than go after a sf with no offensive game and a project center like McGee?
