OKC Trade is a glimpse into our future

This might actually turn out to be a good thing for Utah. If OKC and Harden both struggle this year and next, the Jazz might be able to point to that for the young guys and show them that in order to take the next step as players and as an organization it might be better to sign large deals but not the max.

Only time will tell.

Orange, not sure if I remember correctly, but Houston got a weird protection with the Toronto pick. If Toronto makes the playoffs, then Houston DOESNT get the pick. I think it has like a lottery-only reverse protection. Im doing a terrible job of explaining this. Lemme find a link.

It's going to be a lottery pick, we know as much. Protected out of the lower 16 picks of the draft, in a move I cannot recall a mirrored one for in years of covering the NBA. It's also protected out of the top three next year, the top two in 2014 and 2015, and first overall in 2016. If the Raptors have a terrible time in the winnin' business over that span and luck out with those considerations, they'll also keep the pick.

So OKC will get either a 3-14th pick, a 2-14th pick, or a 1-14th pick in 2016. Guaranteed a lottery pick no matter what. If Toronto makes the playoffs, OKC doesn't get any picks from Toronto.

Definitely agree - but the one thing Harden has going for him is he is still very, very young. At the end of this contract he will just be going in to his prime.

Kmart can definitely feast on opposing benches, but proclaiming that Jeremy Lamb will be better than an OLYMPIAN is absolute stupidity, especially without seeing him play a single NBA game. If Lamb is better than Harden, then OKC will 3peat.

So why not take a bit less money and be a part of something special for the next four years? Then, after you possibly get a ring, sell to the highest bidder even if it's in the ugliest city with the worst fans in the world. I just don't think he gained much in Houston, and you never know who will have the cap space in the future since Harden is a really nice player, but he is not in the top 20 in the NBA (I'm estimating here).

easy there boy... Harden is overrated. He did not play that much in Olympics anyway. Lamb has huge potential. I may be wrong but I see something special in that kid.

Because he's greedy - like you said. He wants as much as he can get now.

Also, he played in the NBA Finals at 22 - some players play in the league for 15 years and never get close. He probably didn't appreciate it as much.

Agree about defender but scorer? You guys seem to forget that K.Mart averaged +20pts per season 6 seasons with one season at 24.6pts and over 40% shooting on 3pts and 90% on FT!!! Hardens best season was last with 16.8pts average. Please, K.Mart is elite scoring SG in NBA, OKC won't miss a beat on offense with him. 24.6pts per game average and can't create with ball in his hands? WTF???
