Oklahoma City contemplates new arena

Oklahoma City hires consulting firm to tackle new arena:

The firm has a pretty impressive portfolio, working on building professional sport arenas all across the country. Oklahoma City officials said they simply needed a little more help with a project as big and important as the new Downtown Oklahoma City arena.

To help the city navigate how our new arena will look and exactly what will go into it, the city council members approved hiring Denver's CAA Icon, a professional consulting firm. They will oversee the architects, construction and the eventual completion of the new arena.

"They can help us get there. That is something, while we have built a lot of buildings for maps, we have never had to build something to meet the NBA requirements,” said David Todd, MAPS program manager.

To make sure the $900 million arena is on par, and in many ways better than current NBA arenas, CAA Icon will be in charge.
"These buildings are very complicated and there are lots of different technologies that go into them,” said Dan Vaillant, president of development of CAA Icon.
