Okur for Hamilton?

Okur's pretty much untradable except to a team that wants to unload a similar bad contract. The Jazz still need a consistent shooting guard. Detroit could use a big but it's basically to unload Hamilton, who's unhappy (again) in Pistonland.

The Jazz can run the Harp curl over and over for him. He would make opposing SGs chase him all over the floor. Hamilton is 32. The Jazz get a new starting SG without messing with the core (i.e., AK stays, while Raja strengthens the bench).

Contract wise, an Okur-Hamilton trade could work straight up but Hamilton's contract is a bit bigger than Okur's so the FO might want to package Price too to shed some salary and just get a cheaper 3rd string PG. Admittedly Hamilton had a terrible contract but another year's been lopped off and it now has 3 more years in it. That's enough for the 2-year window with DWill still under contract and then he becomes a tradable expiring in that uncertain time when our star PG becomes an FA.

DWill, Watson, (Price? or other)
Rip, Bell, Haywire
AK, CJ
Sap, Elson, Evans
Al, Fes

Agree with Duck. He has missed a ton of games and seems like his production has really dipped this year and coupled with how long his contract is. I think there are better options. Like actually keeping Memo.

noooo. we are just comming of of aks horrible contract.

and you want to take one thats even worse
It's got nothing to do with AK's contract as Hamilton would be replacing salary committed to Okur.

Hamilton has played most of the season this year, Okur two games so far. Hamilton has 3 years left, Okur 2 years -- one year diff.

Hamilton's not having a great year but that's also why he'd be obtainable with Okur. He's still doing 14ppg and having some 20+-point games. That could improve with him playing alongside DWill and Big Al/Sap and of course working within the Jazz system.

If the Jazz keep Okur, he will be a sub center in limited minutes -- just give Fes and Elson those PT. Hamilton would, if ever, be the starting SG, popping jumpers all over the place.

DUH i know its got nothing to do with that. but after this season ak's contract comes OF the board. his albatros contract giving jazz some more flexibility.
BUt adding hamilton negates that effect. hamilton is old and wont produce up to his contract. memo might produce more than hamilton if he heals up quit nice.

I would rather have Linda Hamilton than Richard Hamilton. Sorry if I refuse to call this clown Rip, I would prefer to call him Dick.

And yet you still miss the point. Rip will replace salary already committed to Okur. Got nohting to do with AK.

Obviously I think a starting SG who can shoot is more important than a sub center who can't play defense.

With what this team has I would love to Have Hamilton. But I sure don't want his contract to come with him. So NO

No way. Hamilton is pretty much done and makes way too much money. He is also not really a 3pt threat. I would rather keep Okur for 2 years than Hamilton even if his contract was a year shorter.

I feel as terrible as you can for an NBA franchise and an NBA player making retarded bucks. Hamilton used to be a part of a fun, elite team of like-minded and similarly aged players for a long time. Every year for a long time they could've won it and they did once. And now he's viewed as a leftover; a leper and a grandfather to a bunch of losers on a bad team.

Anyway, the only way I'd consider trading for him is if it's with Okur. Hamilton's contract is toxic as all hell, but Memo's is too for the next two years. Even then, though, I don't know that I'd pull the trigger. Might as well go after S-Jax first and see where that road leads.

...I suggested this a while back and got shot down like some lunatic on drugs! Hamilton's contract is bad....but if we want to win THIS YEAR and give Williams some easy games and relief...this is the trade to make! Heck, after this year we won't have NBA basketball for who knows how long!

Even if there was a rational reason to trade for Hamilton (and there's not), there is no way KOC is saddling himself with any unjustifiable salary in the year Deron could walk (12-13). As presently constituted, the Jazz only have Jefferson, Sap, and Hayward firmly on the books for that season. Both Jeff and Sap are in walk years with plenty of flexibility to be resigned, and Hayward could get the Mo Almond treatment if he isn't panning out.

I'd do that trade a few years ago but that's almost trading glass for glass at this point.
