What's new

Omg I am tired of watching diaw

Diaw has a place on this team. He matches up well with certain teams but then there are times like last night where he just plays like you'd expect for a fat man. When Diaw strings a few games of poor play i'm sure Quin will reduce his minutes like he has with other players.

Beasley was scoring on everyone, but he does it on Diaw twice in a row so we have sign a new PF.

Withey has been just as good as Bogut this year. People just want a move for the sake of making a move.

Which is why I qualified my statements by saying a backup who gets minutes. Withey has never gotten minutes and only would in case of injury. Bogut on our team would get minutes from not just injury but would get rotation minutes. You could say everyone wants a move just for a move, which is why I don't really care about Jones, but if you're denying the gaping big man hole on the bench and think we can fill it with overplaying Favors, then, just like those wanting to make a move to make a move, you're arguing just to argue.

Bottom line on Withey: Snyder doesn't feel he's good enough to take Diaw's minutes as a center. Whether Withey is better or not, it's irrelevant because Withey isn't playing, so using him as an argument to not have Bogut is a moot point -- Bogut would play and Bogut > Diaw (and they wouldn't have to be mutually exclusive).

There is no gaping hole

Snyder really likes Diaw, that's why he plays. He never played center last nightz Favors did

I'm not talking about last night. I'm talking about the whole season and going forward. If Favors' health troubles continue then I don't think pushing his minutes to be the backup C will be a wise idea. Sure, we could look at last night and say our troubles are over but I'd look at a larger, more recent sample, and I'm sure you would too but you've got a stronger preference for going against the grain.

Favors has been getting better all year. Withey can play. Bogut sucks ***. This isn't two years ago.

At what exactly? What does Jones really add to this team that we dont already have? He just isnt that good and he doesnt have the intangibles that Diaw does. Hopefully Lyles gets another shot soometime before the season ends and he can step up. I will never understand the obsession with Terrence freaking Jones.
He had 1 good game against us. Therefore every fair weather Jazz fan wants him instead of our already better then him players.

It's about rebounding. Bogut can still rebound. And I'm not knocking Favors. Favors would be one of the largest beneficiaries of having Bogut. It's the difference between resting Favors and overplaying him before the playoffs. If you want to use "him getting better all year" as a reason for him to start at PF and get all backup C minutes, well then okay.

Favors is fine. Withey can play 5 minutes here and there if Favors really needs rest from the 25 mpg hr is getting.

Bogut has been terrible this year.

I'd look at it little more broadly than that. We're getting killed on the glass this year. We have a great defensive identity to start games. That's lost on the bench. Diaw and Lyles combine for 11.3 rebounds per 36 minutes this year. Bogut alone is grabbing 13.4 per 36. Bogut as a defensive presence is greater than both those guys. Your argument is Favors vs. Bogut. My argument is playing Favors in that role leading up to the playoffs is risky. While we can say "Bogut sucks this year" we could say the same about Diaw, but in reality we can see what he brings in other ways that aren't appreciated from an outsider, which is the same phenomenon I believe you're experiencing with Bogut. In any case, going from 4 rebounds per 36 to 13.4 per 36 is a monumental leap.

All players on other teams are scrubs bro... unless they play for us they suck.

I don't like Bogut though. It is more about his attitude the last year or so... kind of whiny and not very self-aware. I think he still thinks he's a starting center and never engaged this year.

He does set some of the best illegal screens that are never called... Dude could get some separation for people for sure.
