What's new

One of the most embarrassing performances..

I think the Ricky, Favs, Rudy combo may be worth monitoring still. That group was -5 to start the game... +1 in second half, but that was in part because Ricky put up 7 pts in that stretch.

In Porty the were -6, and -9. Against Dallas it was good. Porty was his first game back...

A few times the screen was set so high I was like it’s a non threat.

Same thing in the potty game they set the screen so high yet we go over... if they beat us with off the dribble 40 footers I’m cool.

I think they may just do it automatically so everyone is on the same page.

I also enjoy AB missing the switch up high once a game that leads to a layup. Although AB was pretty good in the first half... outside of the fast break he goofed. If he played and just did the simple stuff and could make the easy reads he’d be so good. He’s regressed imo with regards to B.B. IQ.
I think part of the regression is overthinking and trying to be too unselfish on occasion and helping too much on defense.
Last night he had that horrible pass on the break to mitchell that almost seemed like a half assed alley oop attempt (rockets defender touched it with his pinky btw). The old burks would have just took it himself and scored in that 2 on one situation.
The other big time **** up was on another semi fast break with harden as the defender and burks passed the ball to gobert ankles. Not a bad read on that one (gobert would have had an easy dunk) just a horrible pass. Again, the old burks probably just goes right at harden and scores or gets to the line.... or even makes a good pass to gobert.
I think quin has got burks mind messed up. His confidence is crap (never thought I would say that), he is hesitant and nervous and always worried to make a mistake and get benched..... which causes him to make mistakes and get benched. Also, he isn't smiling anymore. On the bench or the court. He doesn't seem to be having much fun. Seems like a broken man.
Too bad he didn't get traded.

AB seems to be missing some bball smarts. Seems lost and even when he has a decent read on the flow of the game tends to make bad decisions. And he still plays pretty out of control. I wish he had been traded too.

I’m going to agree almost 100%.

The three good plays he made were all instinctual... open shoot, guy closes hard go dunk... then on that break you could almost see it. Honestly if any member of our team looks up and sees Gerald green is the only thing between them and scoring they need to just go score damnit.

They need to simplify the defense when he is out there and just tell him to make plays on offense... sometimes I think our guys pass up the obvious play for the smart play that might be the wrong play.

We either need to adjust or move him to a better situation.

To be fair to AB our team had a collective brain fart last night.

Even Rudy made two just dumb plays. One trying to post up NeNe and one where he decided to throw an outlet pass ahead even though he had a wide open outlet guy right next to him and there was no real advantage on the push.

The Jazz have ruined Burks tell me which other player has to think so much to fit Quin's system?

Mitchell?
Ingles?
Gobert?
O'Neal?
Rubio?

Each one of these players seems to drive at will, chuck at will, and they don't have short leashes.

Quin made a huge mistake by leaving Gobert in at the end of the forth quarter. Houston took advantage of him every time down the court.

I beg to differ. The Rockets were stopped about 8 plays in a row for a 4 minute stretch. They didn't score. The problem was that Crowder missed two free throws. Gobert missed two free throws. Rubio missed a layup. Mitchell missed 2 open three point shots. And what should have been a 2 point game was an 8 point game. Then Mbah hit more shots in a shorter period of time than he had ever done before. Gobert helped us shut them down for a very long stretch... but we have to make layups and free throws.

Exactly, wasn't too long ago when he was putting up 20 per for several games in a row then followed up with dnp. Damn shame watching royce, Rubio DM chuck away at will. Dude should've been traded

Forgot this is the Jazz forum.

Came in here expecting this to be about One Love two-pump chumping it after a date.

Honestly, Favors HAS to go at the end of the season. What other team in the NBA has a starting 4 and 5 that can't shoot outside of 12 feet?

On the NBA Show Ringer podcast, Bill Simmons had Haralabob Voulgaris on and the Jazz came up. He specifically mentioned this game and hammered Quin for it. Said that the Jazz were able to be successful defensively by switching their defense to blitz McCollum and Lillard's PNR on the game in Portland before the break, and questioned why they went away from it for the game in Utah. I hadn't noticed but thought it was an interesting perspective.

Also hammered Quin for playing Favors/Gobert together, but never going for OBoards.

I was screaming the last 3-4 min for Quin to go small. It killed our defense.

22 turnovers and shooting .24 from 3 was the problem. If Houston wasn't playing like **** as well this would have been a 40 point blowout.

Plus the fact that Houston apparently were able to have cj McCollum and Damian liilard on their roster for that game doesn’t seem fair either.
