Believe it or not this is not that uncommon - stories of firefighters being shot and/or shot at pop up in the national media a few times a year.

A firefighter in California was shot and killed responding to a call this summer.
 
The headline doesn't even do justice to how insane this is.

Two Australian firefighters, on patrol with US Forest Service personnel in Washington state, were set upon by hunters, chased and shot at in an incident which has reached officials within the Foreign Affairs Department.

I mean, this isn't like someone was trigger-happy and shot at some firefighters because they thought it was an elk. These guys chased firefighters and two forest rangers?! What the **** is wrong with all of you down south?

I was about to correct you because I thought you are referring to the U.S. south, but then I remembered you were from Canada...

I really want to hear why the hunters said they did that. I mean what could possibly motivate them to shoot at firefighters? There's got to be more to this story.

One side says "it's the nut jobs"

The other side says "it's the guns"

While the obvious answer is "it's the nuts who own guns"

Poaching? Trespassing? Trespassing while poaching? Regardless, they’re assholes.

Probably just wanted to make them squeal like a pig, what with their perty mouths and all.
