Multiple times last night I saw the Spurs pass out of layup attempts for long twos from backup bigs. THAT is the effect that Gobert has. There was a point where the Spurs were ACTIVELY CHOOSING an Aaron Baynes long 2 over a Parker layup. Unreal.
True. I think the bigger concern is Kanter being so slow to switch. He has no ability to get out and defend guards. All Rudy has to do is get within a couple of feet and raise his arms. Must look like the damn Great Wall when he does that!Except LMA had only 6 or 8 out of those 16 when defended by Kanter. But don't let facts get in the way of good ol' Kanter bashing
Kanter might be the worst but hes 2nd best post player in the league so its a net positive when he's on the floor. Watch Kanters numbers go way up playing with Ibaka. Plus now they've built a proper team around him he will be the best offensive big in the game.
Technically, its better for an offense to attack us by shooting mid range shots that trying to score inside on Gobert.
It goes against everything coaches teach, practice, and know. Rudy is special.
https://www.nba.com/video/channels/...lit4" "Mark Eaton 2.0" ...they said. Nice.
I loved how the Spurs saw Rudy and kept running away like coming onto a Bear in the woods.
Precisely what Hayward and others said even before the Kanter trade. They said when Gobert played, they could afford to be more aggressive because they knew he was back there if someone got inside. That may be true, but what I noticed last night is that attempting to do that made the Spurs offense as a whole really suck. Easy to play great perimeter D when you know that the guy you're guarding will NOT take it to the rim.
That was by far the Spurs' biggest issue. If Exum knows you don't want to attack the rim, he can do silly things like press Parker at half-court. Millsap and Ingles were also both all over their guys, far far FAR more aggressively than usual.
Good comparison. There are so many times a game you see opponents get into the paint, look up and see Gobert looming, and pass or dribble it back out.
'Tis like the ladies after I undress
You threaten to block jazzgasms?
While the reasoning behind the retreat is not the same (Rudy's length compared to my lack thereof), the women will act in much the same manner as the intimidated basketball player hoping to score a goal. Discovery - shock - disbelief - retreat
Best believe I'm still jazzgasming even after the paint clears.
You need to target younger, more scared girls. #spurstalkpost
Rudy makes other teams change their offensive schemes. He's unreal.
