Oscar

I find it really ironic that all during the last iteration of the Jazz we couldn't find random cheap NBA rotation players... I guess Royce and Niang BUT our hit rate on these guys has been so much better in this era... when its not all that important. Oni, Matty Ice, Brantley, JWF, Hughes, Paschall, Shaq, Morgan, Tucker, NWG... just nuthin. Now Potter, Svi, Oscar, Juzang, Dunn, Tech.... even Springer are surprisingly functional.

In the Jazz last three games Oscar averaged a double double off the bench. He also finishes the year second on the team for rebounds per game. Give the man a guaranteed deal. Come on Ainge have a heart.

I'm not sure Oscarc is NBA level at anything besides rebounding, where he might be the best rebounder since Rodman.

The Pacers would agree with you as they let both he and Isiah Wong walk after last season. If he could develop a little more range on his shot he could be really dangerous. Maybe Ainge goes big game hunting, acquires the next Michael Jordan and then pares him with Oscar.

That’s because this is the worst team in the league. More touches and minutes and opportunities

Oscar didn’t play enough minutes to qualify for being ranked, but he would have both the highest rebounding % (the percentage of available rebounds gathered by a player while they are on the floor) and rebounds per 100 possessions in the NBA by a significant margin.

And I’m quite certain those would be franchise records. His TRB% of 25.7 I can only find a closest comp of Gobert in 2021-2022 at 25%, which was a bit of an outlier season for him, the next closest being 1.7% lower and the next closest after that being 21.9%. I can’t think of anyone else who would be close.

A statistics and math professor years ago calculated the value of an offensive rebound and a turnover and it came out to about 1.75 points for each. It seems to me that just the offensive rebounding portion of Oscar's game should translate into a very positive value.

Oscar at minimum is dog insurance. He assures the Jazz can always have a dog to turn to when someone is out there dogging it.
Also seems like a genuinely awesome person to have in the locker room. Likely a big moral boost type of guy when you are in tanking hell.
