Other Fans thinking about the Jazz Rookies

But instead of heeding the age old advice "don't believe everything you hear", you just keep on doing the opposite.......and viola, you're now an NBA expert!

LOL... It's one of those words, Just like the Coach K's last name, we all know how to SAY it, but nobody can spell the damn thing...

Mr. Statistician, I noticed you left out his 3 pt shooting %s, a shot which will soon be his mid range jumper. Scoring in the NBA is not like scoring in the Big 12; if you can't keep the defense honest with a knock down jump shot, you won't be able to beat anyone off the dribble like he could in college.

I think Burks is going to be a solid NBA player, and getting the top rated SG (a badly needed spot on our roster) at 12 is a nice deal, but let's be honest and realistic about some of the kid's weaknesses that are going to be exposed when playing in the NBA. You're condescending tone of saying "right" after every point and the way you tried to label me as a self-proclaiming "NBA expert" for simply stating what the kid may struggle with at the next level suggests that perhaps some of us need to calm down a bit about his future until we see him play. The kid was picked 12th, not 2nd. I'm as excited as the next guy to watch Burks play, and didn't think it would be unreasonable to wonder how his weaknesses in college will hold up in the NBA...
Fair enough assessment.
I think Burks, if not a starter, can at least be a Corey Maggette type player off the bench. Maggette doesn't have much of an outside game, either, but he's great at getting to the hoop and drawing contact. What I've seen in the limited tapes of Alec is decent form on his outside shot, but a tendency to drift and fall off to the side when he shoots. What he will have is a very good shooting coach in Hornacek to work with.

In fact, I wouldn't mind if Burks settles in as the 6th man for Utah. He'd still get starter minutes (a la Crawford) and the Jazz need a scorer off the bench. Start Hayward at SG and find a SF in the draft next year or via trade. Then Hayward can slide to SF when Burks comes in. Voila, you'd have a good 3-man rotation at the 2-3 with Hayward as the guy who can play either (just like CJ does or Brewer did in the past, but hopefully at a much better level).
