What's new

Our Utah Jazz @ the San Antonio Rabid Bat Murderers 4/2, 1:30 PM Mountain on ABC

One of the bigs stats of this game: Gobert was +4 today. He's so damn good.

I don't care what anyone says, I've seen enough; Rudy Gobert, 27th person taken in his draft class, is the best center in the NBofA. If we are talking about who helps you win the most (and counting AD as a 4)there is no doubt.

Rudy was great though I was super mad when him and Jingles ran that PNR and he gave it back to Joe in the lane instead of trying to dunk.

I'll be at both Portland games, in SLC and Portland. Also going to the final Spurs game.

Cappy will be at the game in Portland next Saturday. Look for green Gobert jersey probably behind jazz bench. Haven't got my ticket yet, but I'll be behind the Jazz bench unless I get a really good deal in a different area. Either way I'll be somewhere in the fist 10 rows.

Was at the game today, very close to the court, across from the Jazz bench. Some observations:

Hood and Hayward looked pretty disinterested in being there. Hayward did seem to finally realize he was at a basketball game about 1/3 of the way into the fourth quarter. Hood was trash all game. Very disappointing effort, except for one hustle play.

It was funny watching Diaw score so much. I felt that his poor defense negated what he did for us on offense though. Take this observation with a grain of salt because I definitely wasn't focusing on this.

Exum is going to be a really, really good player. He has so much to learn about himself and about the game, and it shows. But he has terrific instincts for the ball, both offensively and defensively. It's when he's not playing near the ball that he struggles.

Even though he made some big plays, I did not enjoy watching Shelvin Mack. Reminds too much of the post-Deron point guard play. Dribbling for 20 seconds only to finally make a pass to a guarded teammate on the perimeter for a contested shot is never okay. And he's a liability on defense.

Hayward is a good dude. Around 6 minutes into the 4th, refs screwed up a call and almost gave the Jazz the ball. Hayward turned to the sideline official and said "it was off me". The call was immediately reversed. I have never seen a player do something like that before and thought it was pretty cool of him.

Rudy Gobert is so amazing. The way he alters the game defensively is unlike anything I have ever seen. I don't think even Ben Wallace or Olajuwan in their primes had as big of an impact. It was a joy getting to see him in person.

It was also nice to see Joe and Joe up close. Both play smart and hard and are fun to watch.

The Jazz coaching staff looked like a group of wall street investment bankers. They each had what looked like $1000 suits on. Popovich with his hobo look was quite the contrast.

Last time I saw the Jazz live was during the Corbin era. The experience is soooo much better now. If they continue to put this product out there I will make way more of an effort to go see them live. I might even have to travel outside of San Antonio so I can actually see them win for once.

gotta love it when we give up possessions in a game that was within 1 bucket with 30 seconds left. I'm a big-time hayward supporter, but winners > 'good dudes'

Bigger picture. Refs respect this kind of thing, and Hayward knows he's got a lot of games left to be played in his career.

That's just something we disagree on. I'd rather lose fairly than win unfairly.

You mean like they did last time they played there?

You know I didn't mean it was impossible. It's just more unlikely. Plus I'd like to see other teams and arenas. Also, might have to go back home and get me a plush navy blue seat next year.

Exum has a little bit of Westbrook kind of explosiveness hidden behind the lack of confidence and he showed it with that dunk.

I think the one thing that is very frustrating to watch being a Jazz fan. Is even with the talented roster that we have. We don't have the guy that steps up and leads on offense. We have Gobert who dominates the defensive end, but on offense we get crushed. Kawhi Leonard shoots with so much confidence, it's like he knows that he about to destroy you. Our wing players, as great of shooters as they are, don't shoot with confidence that often. I have seen some games where they do but many they don't. They lack that consistency in their confidence while shooting. We should be having guys like Hayward, take over the game much more often than what he does. If we could get that from him, we would be in much better shape.

I agree. Coach threw Dante a bone and he put up a couple of out of control shots off the drive=yanked.

This analysis is lame. First shot he got the ball with under 4 on the clock. Sure it wasn't a great result, but he took his chances by trying to get to the rim. Second shot was just a miss in the paint.

Exum +5 (matches his draft position)

I think going with Exum might be the best course of action because of money.

This team needs a legit PF more than they need a PG. Exum and a vet will be ok.
If we dont have Favors or someone good to replace him we arent doing anything anyways.

Id like to have Hill and Favors back but the financials dont add up. Maybe if we can get Burks off the books.

So diaw has his best game of the season and gets less than 20 minutes? Odd.

Still pissed that ingles passed up at least 3 wide open threes.
