Overhyping Favors

I see no reason he and Kanter can't start next year. I also see no reason they both won't be able to average 15 and 10. Hell, they probably both could this year or come damn close anyway. Either way, this duo has better rebounding and better defense than our current starters and is only about five points off their scoring. Hayward, Burks and Co. can easily make up for that.

Personally, I'd love the three bigs to be Favors, Kanter and Noah with the other two gone.

Their efficiency is way below Jefferson/Sap though, and you can't rely on either person in crunch time like you can Jefferson/Millsap. I still think the best option is Jefferson/Favors, and you use Favors as the pick n' roll big and Jefferson as the post up big.

Even with its obvious flaws, I am for this.. with gusto.

I'm thinking we should start abandoning the Favors post-up though. I think the best way for him to peak offensively is a pick n roll player.
That plus learn to face up from the short corner (Toronto era Bosh attacking the rim) and get craftier on the baseline (Millsap).

So Favors has the size and athleticism. Does he have the 'it' .. drive, intensity..? I know only time will tell, just typing out loud.

I'd like a more offensively versatile big than Noah complementing Favors and Kanter. Millsap at the right price is a good option IMO.

I think he has the drive and intensity. I just don't see the natural offensive basketball touch and feel.

With Favors/Kanter I would go with a stretch 4 as my 3rd big. Millsap would be great, but I would probably even want more a shooting threat, someone like Ryan Anderson.

I hear ya. Millsap's a very solid offensive weapon per se. He's dependable. We could count on him for 15-20 a night. None of those other three are like that. I'd simply love what that size and defense they could bring. You're probably making the wiser choice since our wings aren't scaring anyone. But I'd still love to see that nasty frontcourt. And I think I'm overthinking the statement that Favors doesn't want to play the 5, at least according to people here. If that's true, that could be an issue. Unless Favors or Millsap would come off the bench.

Also, Sap is faster. It's hard to have 3 guys on the court that are not truly fast. Too easy to counter size with speed.

Very true. I'd love a rotation of Millsap/Favors with Kanter off the bench. I think Favors could be a top three center within the next three years and that Kanter would relish the role of 6th man and produce like a stud.

I think this represents what most JF's are wishing to see.

I feel like this is the old myth that the most popular player on a team is the backup QB. Not to say Favors wont develop. But, look we have Kanter, and Burks both high lotto picks I don't see the same outcry for them not starting. And Millsap is twice the player than anyone starting in front of Burks.

If all 3 are playing 32 minutes a night, only half his minutes would be at the 5.

No doubt but is that too much in Favors' opinion or his whole disinterest in playing the 5 completely overblown?

I wonder.

I'm very, VERY curious about Lindsey too. How much does he value Millsap? Jefferson? People continue to reference KOC about future moves but Lindsey's the GM and even though KOC remains on board and was promoted, I'd assume he's letting Lindsey make all personnel decisions and I'm very curious what he does over the next nine to ten months.

I'm not sure of the "Top-3" part, but that would be my ideal line-up. Keep Millsap, Kanter and Favors and draft another big with one of the picks next year. Or trade Al's expiring to get a decent back-up big and then combine the two first-rounders to move up and grab a top PG prospect.
