Maybe we should stop worrying about people having babies and start educating the world.

Same could be said for anything. Want to get rid of Isis? Bring over the boys when they are little kids. Give them iPhones, XBox's, an education and see what happens to them.

People are smart. Show them a better way and most will take it. Show them there is more to life than the fear instilled by religion, and they will become enlightened by it. Show them that what religions teach, and how what Christ and Muhammad and other taught are often at odds, and they will become better.

Look how far we have come as a country the last 100 years. Let's share that enlightenment with everyone, not build walls and run because we are scared of what we don't know.

A lot of people---most--- have not developed critical thinking skills because their lives have been within some larger context of beliefs which are more or less functional in answering all the questions in a way that serves them well on everyday decisions. As long as you stay within that context, you have nothing to really question or worry about, your relationships benefit from the commonality of shared presumptions of reality.... oh did I fail to use the words "shared beliefs" and substitute an arrogant sneer of a term in it's place?

If it is something actually known, we don't use the words "beliefs", do we. But facts don't rank as highly as beliefs in terms of sending out the requisite virtue signaling our relationships require. Facts don't generate any virtues, except perhaps in taking some small steps forward somehow. But nobody thanks you for them. And any forward steps you take away from the common beliefs just scares others and makes them question your goodness or sanity.

Population increases are actually essential to human progress. Without more people with more technical skills or more truthful knowledge of the universe we live in, we cannot achieve the physical necessities for progress. Better homes, transportation, energy resources.... as in the ability to move off of oil dependence into better technologies most of which haven't even been imagined yet. . . .

Historically, the objections people have to more people are unchanged from those advanced by cave men fifteen thousand years ago.

That's way too tidy. They left out below replacement rate. (Though their graph does show its effect) Most of the developed world is already below replacement fertility rates. Without immigrants the US would be too. The developing world isn't far behind. We are headed toward an inverted population pyramid. Unless we cure aging this century (we might) then we will see population decline not stability as the video suggests.

Very true, although I believe that the videos main point was that we won't ever reach 12 billion people. Overpopulation shouldn't be our worry. Educating the masses should be our worry.

But where are all the minerals gonna come from?

Back when I was a kid my grandpa was still steaming over the technology takin all the farm jobs away.
He were about 75 than but claimed he was born in 1881 on the same day Billy the Kid was killed. He also claimed he was conceived at the Battle at the OK Corral, crazy old coot.

Anyway, this guy my gran daddy always prayed at Thanksgiving dinner for what seemed to be 15 minutes that God would curse technology an bring jobs back to his daddy's farm (daddy was long past by than of course rest his soul).

Back than it were differnt tho see. We ain't mining potash an the sort to grow crops cause there were only like 500 million people or something an we could grow a plenty by burnin trees an usin the ashes for are potassium. Hell, when I think about it, we was not even mining baking soda till like 1830's? Kin you imagine what the bread an all sorts of fixins tasted like before that was a commercial commodity?

Well if you can than imagine what life will be like when we no longer have these earth supplied resources. Personally, I kin handle it as I grew up as a calf ropin, barn muckin redneck. Back in my day we use to still have measles mumble an rubella, just the way life was. Not sure modern comforts are prepared to be lost from a mental basis when these resources are depleated. Hell, I bet none y'all even make your own vinegar from wine or the sorts. I keep a mother cause it is excellent yeast an bottle vinegar for friends an family ever six months. They love it an always ask hey Boris how do you make this cookin vinegar so good? I lie to them an say I filter it with the moss growin in my stream. Truth is, I filter it with cheese cloth all the same but it is just plain better fresh an natural then the preservative laden store bought junk.
