They play the Jazz in the 3rd game of the season(on Halloween). Will he be guarding Derrick Favors and vice-versa???

@ESPNSteinLine
Frank Vogel makes it official and announces that he plans to start Paul George (@Yg_Trece) at the four

Interesting... Monta will play at SG? So who will start at SF?

Vogels plan is apparently

George Hill
Monta Ellis
C.J. Miles
Paul George
Ian Mahinmi

4 players who can get to the rack.. Can the Jazz counter this type of line-up without benching Gobert or Favors?

Do you think he'll play CJ Miles or Solomon Hill at the 3?

I hope they start George Hill, Solomon Hill and Jordan Hill TBH... (vs. the Jazz at-least)

I think Jordan Hill is getting benched for (Paul)George at PF, for more offensive firepower.

Solomon Hill (who i'm still shocked went in the first rd) doesn't seem to add much in that area., plus I don't see them benching Jordan for him.

I don't think this is exactly Paul Georges idea either, this kinda has Larry Bird written all over it.

C.J. Miles was the Pacers 2nd leading scorer last year... Unless Solomon Hill has improved leaps and bounds, I don't see why they'd start him over C.J.

First 10 PF matchups would be;

Patterson/Scola
ZBO
Derrick Favors
Ilyasova
Amir Johnson
Bosh
K-Love
Frye/Aaron Gordon
KG/Payne

Those dudes won't be able to get to the rack with favors and Gobert down low.

Lol at George guarding favors or Gobert.

What If the Pacers camp the 4 players out near the perimeter though? Run them east-west thru screens(Mahinmi sets solid ones).. That's my concern.

The Jazz would be stuck hoping for misses.. Not a good bet vs. George and Miles on unobstructed looks from 3.

You really don't want bigs guarding wings near the perimeter, **** like this happens.

You can't send Monta's man to help.. he'll shred thru any defense that lets him get a clean first step towards the basket.

For a team that no one's really hyping, I gotta say I do kinda like this idea. even if its a bit gimmicky.

Those guys are not outside sharp shooters.

I would think outside the box and play a zone defense against them any time favors and Gobert are on the floor together..... A three two zone

Depends on how much speed and quickness he has retained since injury. I don't think Favors will struggle that badly guarding George, or at least I think George will struggle more than Favors will in the match-up.

Paul George plans on talking to both Vogel and Larry Bird to get their perspective on how first game went, but he clearly isn’t on board

@CandaceDBuckner
IMO Paul George doesn’t just sound as hesitant as he was last week in embracing the 4 - now he’s making sure everyone knows where he stands

@CandaceDBuckner
PG was told about this move back in April. Today on October 3, he goes back to this refrain: "I’m still trying to wrap my mind around it."

@CandaceDBuckner
PG asked if he wants IND to play more traditional w/ another big, he smiled: “I’m not saying it but that definitely felt more comfortable."

@CandaceDBuckner
Paul George: "I mean, you put four wings out there. At times we’re going to kick some ***. We’re going to look good at times...

@CandaceDBuckner
“...But then you know there’s going to be times when it’s not going to look so good.” - Paul George on the #Pacers new style of play
