What's new

Patty Mills

When Duke University and USA Basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski sings a player’s praises, the basketball world listens.

In his 28 years of coaching at Duke University, Krzyzewski's tutelage has played a primary role in molding a plethora of young aspirants into legitimate NBA players.

Coach K knows an NBA player when he sees one.

Fail. K has had more McDonalds All-Americans, 5* players and 'shoulda beens' than any other coach in the past 25 years. His players play soft and rarely become multi-dimensional players. Yes, he has soome guys make it in the NBA, but compared to the number of those that SHOULD have ... it's quite underwhelming.

Coach k is clueless about the nba. Is he that hreat pf a coach? I say no cuz he has 7 or 8 all americans every year and he usually bows out early,. Quick name me one stud in the nba who played for duke???????????????????

I dont think he goes out to recruit players who are going to be NBA studs. Look at Duke, they usually go with guys who stick around for at least 2 years. They never really have many 1 and dones.

spot on

Just an update if anyone cares - mills played an average game agst Jordan - the country, not MJ - but returned to form agst argentina with 21points and 4 treys and no TOs - unfortunately, the aussies lost by 2 points - not bad seeing we are without bogut!

Further update - mills knocked in a lazy 16 points with 4/5 treys and 7 assists in a comprehensive win over Germany.

Should be a good test today agst serbia.

U guys should also look at Jo Ingles - a tall small forward left hander who is a good penetrator in the same guise as Ginobili. Would be interested on your thoughts.

cheers

Joe Ingles will never, ever make the NBA. Does not have NBA-level skills or athleticism. He also has other plans than making the NBA.

In all seriousness, Hantlers, I have a great deal of respect for dUKe and coachk. He's done as good of job on the collegiate level (his job) as anyone has. I do stand behind my earlier post, though, that his players typically under-perform at the next level. Why is that? Another (long) post for another day. Just wanted to say he does his job as well anyone ever has ... but ..

I agree that he has his faults. Of course, this would just bring up the debate of whether a college coaches main job is to win games in college or prepare his players for the next level. Of course there needs to be some mix of it. Another discussion for another day sir.
