What's new

Paul George looks like he broke an ankle /leg /looked awful

didn't/couldn't watch it!
I hate broken bones.
One of my biggest fears, to tell the truth.
I hope, PG returns to the game in a much better and fitter form, than he was in before the injury.

Wow.. horrible... my prayers go out to Paul George right now.. just horrific.. really really horrific... can't remember a more horrific injury that I've seen on TV ....

Theismann in football. Injury is horrific. This could put George's career in jeopardy.

JHC, seeing it in slow motion was just horrid. Good god that's one of the worst things I've ever seen on a basketball court. An ankle is not supposed to bend that way.

I thought it was his shin.

A shin is not supposed to bend at all.

Need to widen the court in all respects. And move that stanchion back a couple of feet. This has seemed so obvious to me for over a decade. ****. And, what the ****.

Why can't they make the platform longer and put it further back?

And why can't we get rid of all the cameramen?

IMO, there's waaaayyyy too much clutter on the sidelines. I'm surprised that players aren't getting injured all the time running into cameras, media members, and rich drunk fans.

Move people back a row or two. Everyone can still see and players won't get injured.

How can you not feel for PG and the Pacers? Prayers go out to him and wish him a full and speedy recovery.

They are waiting for some day that a player to jump on a child or an old lady, to kill or injure them or themselves brutally on live tv.

LOL .. that's exactly what my brother (who doesn't follow basketball) said. He thought it was the ankle. But if you look closely it was the shin. The whole shin just snapped, that's why it was so horrific.

Move people back...

Definitely agree with this. I'm amazed that no one has yet to be seriously injured by one of those cameras along the baseline.

Could there be an underlying health issue with PG? I mean bones don't generally snap like that. I understand this is 230LB man coming down at a high velocity onto the stantion, but still....hope there is nothing else to it.

Looked just like a freak accident to me.

Tibia/fibula break. A clean break, but I maintain he could be back by the All-Star break depending on his rehab. It's possible that they may hold him out for the year especially if Indiana is meddling and PG can only come back at 80%. The worry about rushing back is him putting additional pressure on the knee to compensate for the leg's integrity and ripping up his ACL which would be even worse.

Part of the reason he handled it so well is shock, but even prior to that, he manned up.

every time i watch the accident, i think pg is really lucky, if the thing that causes accident doesn't here, with the way he landed, it's automatical acl and pcl tear.
I experienced it...

Also, am I the only one who thinks it's kind of funny how serious everyone is being?

If people around here didn't say what happened, you would have sworn he or a close family member died. He got injured playing basketball, it's part of the job.

As bad as this was, it's a broken bone - not a ligament. They inserted a rod, and it will be just as strong as before. Anderson Silva had similar injury last December, and is already training for his next fight. He was also almost 39 when it happened. Paul is a young guy, and while he will likely miss next year, he will be back at 100% the following season, and his long term career is not in any jeopardy as a result of this.

CY showing why he's such an amazing poster...

Spraining your ankle or getting a finger owwie (like Trey did last year) happens. I think we all recognize that.

But gruesome potential career Enders where players and fans are emotionally shaken, limbs are snapped, and the tv announces parental advisories before they replay the injury warrants a very serious discussion.

If it was some injury that left him paralyzed for life, sure. This isn't one of those. He is going to come back. Will he be the same? Probably not. He will still be able to make millions of dollars playing basketball well into his career. I'm not going to like someone died.

No, I do not believe he had an underlying health issue.

Accident. I wouldn't call it that freak either. There's so much clutter on the sidelines. I'm surprised utterly surprised that more players don't get injured by crashing into the platforms, camera men, and rich fans who aren't even paying attention to the game to move the hell out of the way.
