What's new

Paul George

Caveat: I don't watch much college basketball (I'm guessing most here haven't seen many of these guys play much outside of a couple games) and am not making any "factual" statements based on statistics. As I do not watch college ball that much, statistics is really the only tool I have, imperfect as it may be. However, I feel more comfortable looking at stats and making an evaluation on a player than relying on some internet guy, who likely has seen as much of a player as I have, make predictions based off statistics but hide behind something else.

Anyhow, I like a 2 that can score, pass and rebound, which is why I really liked Turner (his rebounding for being 6'7" is unreal). If you compare Turner's Sophomore season with George's sophomore season, FG% aside, their numbers are nearly identical (yes, I know, different team, different conference, etc., etc. -- I'm not neglecting this but feel free to bring it up).

..............Turner.........George
MPG.........36.4.............33.2
PPG..........17.3.............16.8
RPG..........7.1...............7.2
APG..........4.0................3.0
TO............3.5...............3.2
A/T..........1.12.............0.94
STL...........1.8...............2.2
BPG...........0.8..............0.8
PF ............2.9..............2.9
FG%..........503.............424
FT%..........758.............909
3P%..........440.............353

Now compare Turner's and Rain Man Babbitt's sophomore stats. He's a month younger than George and his stats are clearly better.

He's got better numbers but I was making the comparison more along the lines of being a big 2 that can pass, rebound and score. Truth is I like both those guys and wouldn't mind trading down for two picks if there's no way to move up.

Wow, some people now look very smart and others not so much.

Babbitt vs George with no mention of Hayward...

I'm amazed at the first round love for three WAC players whose teams didn't win a weak college conference. George's Fresno State team finished sub .500 in league and overall. NBA front office types are smarter than me in affairs du hoop but I'm wondering if these three will be career DLeaguers.

This must have been HT awakening to players who might be considered scrubs. Constantly trying to make up for the mistake of doubting George.

HT has been pimping scrubs for way longer than I can remember.

So if Homey starts pimping Hayward, will that be a bad sign?

It'd be more of an "it already happened" kind of thing, like he spends the next four years in the D-League and is knocking on the door.
