What they do is 100% based on what the Bulls do with Butler. Right now the Celtics are probably trying to leverage them against each other.
You dont deal for Paul George unless you are convinced he will sign here. Too big of a risk just to get a rental for all those assets.

Paul George is a FA at the end of the year...Right? And yet some of you are willing to give up the farm for a small chance that he re-signs. That seems a little crazy to me.
Almost like ya'll loved the rebuild so much you want to start over.
Apparently he has 1 more year. That's better, but you'd still want to re-sign him if your giving up what is suggested here.

at a minimum you have him until the end of next year. You gotta swing for the fences on this if you have a shot. We could contend with him. It's hard to leave a team that's in contention.

This may be something they are saying to increase the odds he stays in Indiana. Cousins lost 30M because he was traded, this may be George's way of trying tying to keep that 30M, or whatever he stands to lose.
