Hi all, new poster here - so if I commit any immediate faux pas my apologies.
I'm curious; I have read a bevy of different options we might have regarding a PG of the future. What is the most popular opinion?
[adding a poll, let me know if I leave any serious options off]

Hi, are you Jake from State Farm?

Hahahha, I kid. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Jake. It is a real pleasure to see new members willing to jump right in. I see you didn't have to go through a 10 post probation.. that's cool.. heard it's a pain.

Anyway, great first post. You will soon see why it's a no-brainer I chose Rondo.. you see, I'm a HUGE Kentucky fan.

If anyone gives you a hard time, PM.. and I'll gladly help. LOVE having new posters around.

I vote for LeBron James, I bet he could transition to PG for us.

LeBron James
Burks
Hayward
Kanter
Favors

I bet this team could make the playoffs next year.

Actually no I'm Jake from "Less Than Jake"...
Or perhaps Jake from "Jake and the Fat Man"...

Still not sure which, haha.

Thanks! I dig talking Jazz, gonna be an interesting offseason. Hopefully a positive one.

I said Teague, but I don't think ATL will let him go. We could offer him front loaded max (as has been stated a lot), but ATL could easily match it.

my somewhat realistic dream lineup next year:

Teague / Mccollum
Burks / Caldwell- Pope / Murphy (give him like 7 minutes a night so we can see what he can do before pulling plug)
Hayward / Carroll / Evans
Favors / Marvin (since he will opt in)
Kanter / ?

I said Michael Carter-Williams - only because he'll be cheap if we can get him at the draft. A pass first PG who can finish at the rim with ridiculous upside. Shooting's really his only concern.

I also like Bledsoe, but it'll probably mean we'll have to give up one of the C4 to get him - may be Burks.

My vote is hold out for one more year. Harrison, Hill, or Smart...we can get one of them if we are drafting top 8, and I think we will with just the C4. All signs point to Corbin being back as well, which adds about 10 losses compared to a normal coach with similar talent. Paying Teague some gruesome amount of money hoping Atlanta doesn't match could seriously wreck the future. If for some reason McCollum is there at 14, you take him, but chances are slim to none on that.

Yeah.. this franchise hasn't shown a willingness to "lose" a season though. My main concern is we'd finish 8th in the playoffs, get a #17 pick next year and again miss out on all those guys.

Personally, if we're gonna end up tanking (top 8 pick) next year I'd rather we were able to have a shot at one of the 'game-changer' SFs in that draft.

David Locke showed yesterday on Tipoff that Jeff Taegue is very inefficent compared to other PG's in the league

I don't like the options in this years draft, it seems like most of them are combo guards, which we already have. (Mo, you are a combo guard, not a true point, accept it) And free agent guards are not that great this year. Sign Mo to a one year, see what Burks does backing him up, and let's see what we can get next offseason.

Of course Mo probably wants a multi year. Not sure If I want that.

Admit it, you are really Jake from Jake and the Nederland Pirates. My son loves your show. He is always saying, Oh bumpers and shipwrecks, just like you!

I don't agree with Locke on a lot of items, but I do agree with his assessment of the PG market this off season.

I'm not a fan of Teague........for the price we'll have to pay to get him. With the fact that ATL is another team with a LOT of flexibility, there isn't a worse team to fit over an average PG with. We would have a horrible contract for a mediocre PG. If that was our only option, I would be ok to pick up a mid-late 1st round PG to develop (McCollum or Carter-Williams), and sign Mo or Calderon and let Burks run the point as backup.

I'm also in the minority and not a fan of Bledsoe and I hope some have seen how poorly he's played since the All-Star break. I don't think he will be that bad over the course of his career, but he's not a long-term answer at PG for a title contending team.

Schroeder needs to be considered....

I was really high on Burke when I thought we wouldn't have to move too far to get him. Now, I'm almost 100% certain we shouldn't mobilize the resources it would take to get him. Therefore, you take a hard look at mccollum and schroeder at #14. If we are somehow in a position to grab a better point guard later, then we do. Simple.

No to Mo. Simple.

I agree. I actually agree with all of this but especially the no to Mo part.

If we re-sign Mo and then draft a point guard with Burks being the primary backup, this board will be putting up 'free X point guard' posts all season next year. The only time the third guard gets in is either foul trouble or injury. at least Favors and Kanter were the primary backup.

If we don't use Burks as the backup point guard, that's even worse because he is the third SG behind Hayward and Foye (who the entire organization seems to have a man crush on.)((Yes, Hayward is currently a 3, but that's it's own problem; when was the last time Carroll came in without foul trouble or injury?))
