Good stuff here from The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor. Definitely worth the watch.

Yup... and as fans we will tolerate the rebuild. We will embrace the young guys and a new team. Most of us get it.So one of Donovan, Gobert, or Quin should go. But not nuking the whole thing is gonna create problems.
Dumping Quin while keeping both:
-Quin is the heart of the problem with the defense and abject lack of accountability, but Donovan will STEAMROLL whoever gets brought in. Won't matter who unless it's ****ing Pat Riley or Phil Jackson. The problems of defensive buy-in and accountability will persist, at least with Mitchell (but it's hard to get everyone to buy in when you make exceptions).
Dumping Gobert while keeping Quin and Mitchell:
-Will be an absolute tire fire on defense, team will be mediocre at best and could actually be terrible, setting up a drawn-out and messy Donovan exit while not bottoming out. I also think Mitchell nets you more in a trade.
Dumping Mitchell but keeping Quin and Gobert:
-This might actually be the best of the three in terms of short-term winning and losing. Mitchell probably gets you more in a trade. Would give the team a chance to reset the culture/buy-in/accountability, but since this whole problem ultimately started with Quin then I'm skeptical he'd be the one to fix it. And while I think Gobert might have more impact and longevity than Mutombo, he's not getting any younger.
They should just nuke it hard because of the complications of re-tooling on a smaller scale, not to mention that they could also maximize the assets of Bojan and Mike while they have any value.
Which drops to 105 in the clutch.
You aint seen clutch yet. Jazz bout to bring it in the real clutch time (playoffs)Which drops to 105 in the clutch.
He should be #1 imo. There are a few guards in the 4-8 range I think I like too… Ivey, Sharpe, and Mathurin.I will agree that the Mitchell trade to NYK gets interesting if they get a top pick. Jabari Smith would be perfect. It would be crazy if Utah could take another rookie and make them a leading scorer on a playoff team right away.
I think we are probably way off in thinking that Mitchell will return a ton of unprotected picks, but idk, I think I would be pretty happy with RJ/Smith/Top 5 protected 1st.
You gonna jinx us.Can we please stop with this garbage we are about to sweep the ****ing Mavericks.
If you got Smith, then you just need some scraps back that you could parlay elsewhere. I mean, you could even trade Mike for Hayward and start getting more size.He should be #1 imo. There are a few guards in the 4-8 range I think I like too… Ivey, Sharpe, and Mathurin.
I don’t think we could get RJ/Smith and more. I think you could get a top 4 pick, Grimes, Quickley, Toppin and a couple other picks… they own Dallas’ pick.
I like the potential of Smith a lot and if you could get him plus some spare parts I’d be pretty happy.
I won't say who, should be fairly obvious, but someone has seriously been jinxing us the past couple months with very specific projections on what they think will happen that I swear every time they put their fingers to the keyboard, it's a curse. You gonna jinx us.
I would take Chet lmao. Just because I really want to see Chet and Gobert together. It'd be a really interesting experiment. He should be #1 imo. There are a few guards in the 4-8 range I think I like too… Ivey, Sharpe, and Mathurin.

You'd trade Bogey if you'd trade anyone. No way in ****ing hell do you deal Mike Conley for Hayward. You need a playmaker. You can't deal Conley unless the Bogey trade nets you a starting PG to replace him.If you got Smith, then you just need some scraps back that you could parlay elsewhere. Chet scares me. He’s a guy that gets GMs fired… either the GM that drafts him because he can’t stay healthy… or the GMs that pass on him because they were scared… then he turns out to be awesome.I would take Chet lmao. I’d be doing all sorts of medical and biometric balance beam studies to get as much info as possible.
