While there’s a real issue there, I think the real problem is Snyder.
It is time to at least try a new coach. If…IF the Jazz have one more season of both guys, they need to try a new coach. If it’s still not working, I guess you’ll have to trade one of them as we head into our All Star game.

I don't want to pick a side, but if I have to I go with Gobert all day every day. He is the biggest impact player on this team and it isn't close. He could be an even bigger impact player if his teammates tried getting him the ball a little more often. If they did that they'd also get a few more open looks from outside as other teams would be more worried about Gobert scoring in the paint, but whatever.

But Snyder gets to reap all the benefits of a public Rudy/DM controversy in the same way that KOC and Greg were able to have their failings play out as “Sloan vs. DWill.”

Reality is that this team has better metrics all day, every day when Rudy is on the floor vs. DM. And it’s not even close.

DM would give us a better haul back in terms of assets. I will take a perennial DPOY over a guy who lights up the scoreboard at an inefficient rate.

There’s no salvaging this.

If I have to side with one it's Rudy, especially after his freeze out yesterday.

That said I wish they could get their acts together, but the relationship is probably too toxic. And I also agree that Quin is largely to blame for the mess the Jazz are in

I’m going to be in the minority no doubt, because even though it’s easy to see that Gobert has the bigger impact than anyone else, I still voted to remove him from the equation if that’s what we have to do, because he also has far and away the biggest impact on our roster building ability.

Between his massively over-inflated contract and his inability to generate a single possession of offense on his own, this team will be hamstrung from getting the piece(s) we need as long as he is getting paid what he does.

(It’s only going to get worse as he ages and gets deeper into the 40s of Millions per year)

If I had to decide who has to be traded I would chose Donovan because he is less impactfull and he can get us more return. I would also love to see Rudy surrounded by true athletic two way wings who can play perimeter defense. But I am not getting too excited by all this drama about the personalities, it's just pity that they can't get it together. But who really knows what really happened in the locker room that caused it and how they really reacted? I actually think both Rudy and Don are immature and none has the quality of a leader this team needs.

Have to weigh in and say I’m team Rudy all the way. I know he’s awkward as hell. Someone on here once compared him to a giraffe on roller skates and I thought the mental imagery was apt. But Rudy isn’t utilized to his strengths. Other than Ingles, we haven’t had a guard who consistently has looked for Rudy.

And would rather stick with Rudy and find pieces that might fit. Still think the Jazz should look to trade Mitchell to Oklahoma for Giddey and draft picks. I believe Giddy is a future franchise player.

And honestly, still don’t know how Butler would play with Rudy. It’s not like he’s gotten consistent minutes all season or had meaningful minutes with the starters. It’s been a wasted season for Butler as far as development goes.

While I understand this sentiment, we likely get 75 cents on the dollar for Rudy vs $1.25 on the dollar for Donovan. Rudy is also arguably the best defender of all time by almost every metric and it’s not close.

We’d be better off re-tooling around a Donovan trade. What we need to do is get a really solid 3 and D player back in the deal like Jimmy Butler. Conley still has two solid years left same with Bogey and Rudy has at least 3-4 elite years.

Does anyone think we’d drop off much if we literally swapped Donovan with Jimmy Butler? I’d argue we likely get better purely based on the defensive presence Jimmy would bring. I can’t overstate how much just one elite perimeter defender would help us so much.

Rudy is a very good player. He's an excellent finisher at the rim, sets an amazing screen and is an excellent defender.

The entire system is built around him, and the league knows how to completely nullify his impact on the game. It's like a league joke - every team knows how to expose our system at the end of games. The bigger joke is that Quin has no idea what to do.

It's clear that he violated Don's trust with whatever he did around the time of Covid. Rudy clearly didnt earn Don's trust back. Either Don is extremely petty or Rudy never truly showed remorse or both, but it doesnt matter.

Don is flawed, but he's just starting his journey. Rudy has worked his *** off to get here, and we can't figure out a way to win built around him. Or better, the FO has screwed up the chance to build around him and Don.

It’s not Rudy’s fault that they can set a simple screen and our guys completely die on them every single time. We have **** defenders outside of Rudy and Conley and Conley is undersized but at least he tries.

I'm not blaming it all on Rudy. Never have. Our personnel doesn't fit the system to run around Rudy. We are extremely unbalanced. Most of us have been saying that for years.

But we have what we have in terms of our roster and the assets to improve it. We are who we are.

This thread is about picking a side. Picking Rudy is just foolish. Our FO failed.

Lopo gets angry when people "speculate unfairly about Donovan" by saying he's probably going to leave, but has no problem speculating that Gobert did some mystery thing to personally violate Mitchell's trust and still needs to earn it back.
