Pick Up CJ's Option Already

Preciate Jeff coming down thats love and got some good work..Now I wish they would just pick up my option so we can win some games next year

- You are not going to find a better player, who knows the system, and wants to stay in Utah for around $4m.
- If you pick up his option, he becomes an expiring contract that you could possibly trade for other assets or package with longer deals like Millsap or Bell's.
- He is one of the few long-distance threats on the roster and when motivated one of the few that can drive and create his own shot
- There is really no other true SF signed on the roster
- He is begging. It is embarrassing.

A little bit of pressure can't hurt.

May be he'll show up at training camp in better shape than last year...

I'm sure CJ's option will be one of the last official things the Jazz do before the lockout. They like waiting until the very end.

He is one of the few long-distance threats on the roster.

He shot 32% last year from downtown and 33% for his career. The only person on the roster last year to shoot lower than him is Price, unless you want to count Memo but that'd be silly.

Thank you.

I have a hard time rooting for the Jazz to pick up his option, even though it makes sense. I hate him that much.

I would give him one more year. He's still cheap and let him know this is his last chance to show he's for real.

On the off chance the Jazz make a trade this week, CJ is more valuable with the option not exercised. If he were traded, the new team might want him, or they might want to waive him. Waiting creates more options.

I heard they've been trying but he's been too busy in NY shopping for shoes and using the phrase, "What up doe" on twitter.

I wonder how difficult it would be to find someone better than CJ. All the talent in the world but can't put it together.

Um, no thanks. Don't let the door hit ya CJ.

He is offensive cancer. Dude can't hit crap most of the time, yet he regularly jacks up horrible shots well outside of the offense because "Hey, I'm CJ Miles, I'm the next Pistol Pete/Michael Jordan/Mickey Mouse." We're a young team and with even one person doing that crap the Jazz offensive system will fall apart or at least lose effectiveness because A. The younger guys will see CJ doing it and think they should be able to do it too. and B. Players will start seeing him as a black hole and won't pass him the ball because they know the only way they'll get it back is to pick it up after he fumbles it offor get the offensive rebound when he bricks the shot.

CJ is a good kid and seems like a nice guy, but I would be ecstatic to see him in another jersey next year or whenever NBA basketball resumes.

Interesting Jeff is flying down to Dallas just to workout with CJ. I wonder if it's common practice, or some kind of evaluation by the team.

CJ is far from a cancer. You are describing him like he is JR Smith.

Best explanation I've seen.

In any event, it would be helpful if the team communicated this reasoning to CJ so he doesn't feel the need to beg.

As for CJ wanting to stay in Utah, considering he signed his last offer sheet with OKC it's hard for me to get all misty-eyed over his loyalty.

Do the Jazz have to pick up his option befor July 1st? Or can the Jazz wait until all of the new CBA stuff is resolved?

They could mutually negotiate to put off the date until after the lock-out concluded. In fact the Suns did this with Vince Carter last week.

Wait, the Jazz can do that? They could trade his cap number and the other team could not exercise the option?

Cj couldnt make the jump i expected last year. I always though he has good potential but im about to lose my confidence on him. Anyway he adds depth to the squad currently and at least till burks develop his game, he should stay

They will match it on the last day possible. If they don't we have no outside threat besides Memo.
I think CJ was finally starting to get it towards the end of last year. Give him another year.
