Pistons vs Jazz - 01/03/2011

I think Hayward played less tonight as Sloan thought AK would be a better defender on Prince as Raja would be on T-Mac. And AK did play well and did a nice job on Prince.

Ya I was hoping to see Hayward in the 4th instead of Bell and thought it was justified, that is until Bell hit the clutch 3 ball and iced the game with 2 FT's.

Who knows, such is Jerry Sloan.
I thought AK played well, and looked like he was playing hurt.

Where are all the anti-AK's? They could overlook his 15 points and complain that he only got 3 boards. Granted he was active off the ball regardless, but come on, y'all!

Be interesting to see what happens.... I thought AK played very well tonite (except for a few major defensive losses of his man).

They gave him fits. I recall one where AK thought he should switch and left his man for a wide-open three (which was fortunately missed).

Hmmm, how many points did the guy AK was covering have...Oh yea, 26!

Well no offense but it doesn't boil down to how many points the palyers score that the jazz guard considering that We spread out our scoring alot. Ak is not a big scorer. HE should of played better defense though.

Not to take anything from him, but Tayshaun had some tough shots and he was able to deliver. I think, for the most part, AK had a pretty good game. The Jazz are definitely siginificantly better when AK hustles and plays to his strengths, focuses on the game. Yesterday, he was not %100 either but was able to contribute to the win. I have been waiting him to put a consistent performance ever since he got that contract. Hopefully, his contract year, at least, will be his year.

Also not all points scored where on AK, Prince was also guarded by CJ, Hayward (in his 5min) and Bell for a very short time.
Rip also shot very well in the game and in the first half so did Charlie V and Ben G.

I always have mixed feelings about playing teams like Detroit. While it will be nice to get a blowout win (and play four strong quarters), a tight game like this is certainly more entertaining, particularly for those of us in the stands. I'm one who takes a win, however, regardless of the form. I'm not convinced that how a team plays one night has much bearing at all on how it plays the next on any systematic basis.

I'm a bit confused by Detroit. My impression is that it is not a bad team; has some definite talent. Prince still appears to have it; Hamilton is down some but still good. I would expect it to have a better record. So what's its problem?

Interesting that Ben Gordon rode the bench down the stretch. McGrady can be a real contributor, I think, if he plays within himself these days. Can't put up his old stats, but could be a consistent triple double threat given his multiple talents. Maybe a Grant Hill type resurrection is not out of the question for him (conceding that Grant is a shell of his former self, but still capable of solid contribution).

I can assure you that any real Jazz fan would take a blowout win over a close but so-called entertaining game. Tmac's three point try scared the hell out of me. I did not find anything entertaining in that game' being so close from start to finish, to be honest with you. We certainly will take the W but I wish the game could come to us a little bit easier.

Why would any 'real Jazz fan' want a blow out win? I'm guessing you don't regularly shell out for seats much.

AK's PER this year is the 2nd worst of his career, only behind the abominable '06-'07 season. His win-shares is also second-lowest of his career behind the '06-'07 year.

I can assure you as a season ticket holder, close games are much more entertaining than blowouts, at least from my perspective. I'm talking about the entertainment factor not the satisfaction factor. Blowouts are more satisfying, close games more entertaining. In the end, it matters less to me how we win than we win. But I also like to be entertained, especially when I'm paying a lot of money for the privilege.

Did you see the shots Prince was hitting? I'd say AK's defensive lapses allowed a handful of baskets, but that was quite the game for Prince, who also played about half a quarter longer than AK. I need to see when AK was covering Prince and when he wasn't.
