Places to hit for Greek Food

Does greek food have a bad reputation in the US? In films and TV-series there are sometimes negative comments made about it. In Germany, it's a go-to restaurant choice, on the same level as Italian food. At least in western Germany, where I come from. I didn't see as many in Berlin for example.

Funny seeing people talk about 'exotic' food like Döner (other thread) and Greek food :)

I guess Mexican food fills that niche.
I've never heard anything like this. It's not real popular so you kind of have to look for it. But I for one would eat Greek over Mexican every time.

I'm pretty sure they do although I admit I don't go there as much as I go to Apollo Burger (location), and they slice their meat off a spit.

Greek Souvlaki has been around a really long time. It was my dad's favorite from before I was in kindergarten. Besides really good gyros they have really good dolmathes and (go figure) souvlaki. My dad was a huge fan of Greek food and made far better souvlaki than any greek burger joint I've ever been to. Mmm, I miss it A LOT.

There used to be a decent sit down Greek place, Cafe Mediterranean I think, but the owner died or sold it to his daughter and the last time I was there every last worker seemed like they were on Meth, the fat sloppy cook kept coming into dining area and leering at everyone. The waitress get super distracted when her buddy showed up and needed to talk to her (I figured her fix had arrived) and the food had gone way downhill. Too bad, they had some interesting stuff on the menu.

Ate there once. It was good(not greek souvlaki good, but good). Pretty sure it's gone now. Is that the place that had the belly dancer? I have been to a couple sit down Greek restaurants and they were all pretty good, But can't remember which one had the belly dancer. And can't even remember the name of the 2nd one.

There was(is) a place downtown called Cedars of Lebanon that had belly dancers regularly. I only ate there once and it was along time ago and I can't even remember what I had.Supposed to be pretty good though.
