Play the Vets

I have been on board since the draft of playing the young guys as much as possible. I was not saying tank the season, I was saying gain experience quickly.

Whenever I said that had people telling me that the young guys need to learn to win and the vets will do that.

Tonights loss and the past 19 or so games (which the Jazz have lost 13) tells me that maybe the vets don't know how to win either.

With that being said why did Kanter and Favors both get under 13 minutes tonight? Why did Burks only get 16 minutes?

Something has got to change and the All Star break is a perfect time to do it.

PS, I am hearing that Corbin wants to start Howard and that basically means bringing Hayward off the bench. Another move in the wrong direction..

I'm tired of the minutes distribution, period.

I'd rather get beat every night by 20 with the young guys than watch the vets piss away another half hearted effort that nets us a loss by 2-3 points. There's only two columns, wins and losses.....not close, veteran lead losses. Paying a combined (roughly) $24 million dollars for Jefferson and Harris has to be one of the worst values in modern history.

Funny how playing the young guys is tanking while playing the vets has resulted in the Jazz being in last place in the Northwest. I have been for playing the young guys because they will ultimately be better players than the vets and they are the future. However, now I believe playing the vets and sitting the young guys will ensure that the Jazz will be in the lottery this year and perhaps next year. I have to check out the class of 2013. Perhaps we can find the next John Stockton.

I want to win every night. If the vets were a recipe for playoff success, then I'd say play them. As it is, they aren't going to take us to the playoffs, so they are basically useless to me. There are only five players about whom I give a damn. I hope most of the rest find their way out of town because they are wasting my time.

2013 PG's are no better, at all, than 2012 (of course barring some meteoric rise of a currently unknown). Actually, unless a lot of guys stay in college another year, 2013 will be a very weak draft. VERY weak.

You betchya! Play those vets and sit all the youngin's. Then we will go on a tear, cuz obviously the youngsters just cannot get it done like these vets. How are doin with the vets in the last 2 years? Okay, nevermind.

It sounds like Coach Ty is getting desperate and scared, gonna go to the only thing he knows, play the vets. This could set the team and the youngsters back for years. He should be going the opposite direction, realize this team and these vets just will never be more than mediocre, and play the youngsters more and more and more. Lets hope that a trade comes along to take this out of his hands.

Which 5? I'd say there is an argument for up to 7.

Yep. It SEEMS like he's scared for his job .. if I were him I'd be sending the message that we'll be damn good within two years if I play the young guys more minutes (you are supposed to lose games that way). By playing the vets most of the minutes, you're more likely to have your coaching ability to be called into question when you are losing such winnable games.

The problem that I see is that Corbin has no realistic goals set out for him or this team for this season. His goal is to get to the playoffs while helping the young guys gain the experience needed to get better. Getting to the playoffs is not realistic and the minutes that he is giving the young guys is not helping them, it might actually be hurting them. I know I am not the only one that feels like Kanter and Burks have showed more improvement/ability then I expected to see even with the very small amount of minutes that they are getting.

Why? So we can lose by even more?

The vets are the ones sucking, not the young kids.

Had the Jazz stuck with Favors, Kanter, and Burks last night, we would have won. Those guys actually *gasp* play defense. To borrow a Jerry Sloanism, Hayward, Al, and Paul, looked like they wanted to dance in tuxedos last night.

Couldn't agree more!

Last night what made it worse was seeing the Wolves play Derrick Williams a good deal. The whole time I was thinking that if Favors and Kanter were out there to counteract the Wolves young guys we would have done better in the game and developed our youth better. I saw the eyes light up on the Twolves when they realized that Millsap and Jefferson were their opposition in the waning moments. If I operate under the assumption that Ty is not and idiot then I have to come to the conclusion that he is trying to tank games without people knowing it.

I guarantee at least three or four guys, currently projected in the top 15, will go back to school.
