player interviews

Favors needs to start, no ifs, ands, or buts. I will be furious if he comes off the bench this season again.

I couldn't agree more. Even if we have to trade Millsap to get Favors in the starting lineup around the trade deadline. I feel we could get a first and a serviceable player of some kind. After what Favors did in the playoffs, he should be starting.

However unless Marv really impresses at training camp and preseason.... I can see Corbin employing Milsap as the starting sf with Favors at pf. There's a lot you can do with this lineup. It allows you to play your best players while hiding Al's defensive weakness. At around the 6-7 minute mark bring in Marv, move Millsap to pf and Favors to C. This way we keep Carroll on the bench limit Al's minutes like the Bulls do with Boozer. Al's a good player but he's not going to be resigned in the off season. It's more likely that Millsap has more of a futur here then Al.

So you guessed. Got it.

Personally I'd place it closer to 50/50.

83 is the number barney stinson always uses when he's creating a fake statistic on how i met your mother. that's the algorithm.

really, all i meant to say is that i'm not COMPLETELY sure (which is why saying 99% would have been an exaggeration) but i'm also a lot more sure than 50/50. i think corbin's default position going into camp is that al/paul are starting and favors is the 3rd big at 25 minutes. now that we're hearing how impressive al & paul have been, i have a hard time imagining that his default position has changed.

for favors to get the starting nod, he's going to have to absolutely tear it away from either paul or al. it's like a video replay - if there's not clear and undebatable evidence, they stick with the original call. that's how it's gonna be with two quasi-star vets in front of favors.

Billy said it: the issue is minutes. How will Marv respond if he comes off the bench for a team in a small hick town? Since we are committed to the bigs we have, Millsap will HAVE to play REGULAR (perhaps SIGNIFICANT) minutes at SF (not necessarily a bad thing), which will squeeze minutes at the 2, too. It's going to be really interesting.

This is not my point. My point is I don't believe a guy who has averaged 30 minutes for 7 years and never improved is going to improve. Marvin is not a bad player, he's just not a good player. He'll likely be overpaid in the 2 years we have him and we'll probably move on or trade him. But I am hopeful and look forward to seeing him play in our system to see if he can be a better player than his stats indicate.

Kinda funny, considering the source.

Touche. Maybe I should have clarified that Marvin can make the same jump Al is still trying to make in relation to Zach -- a lateral move where he doesn't radically improve his stats, but improves his overall efficiency. That said, there's a pretty huge difference between what Al gives a team and what Marvin does. Marvin can be replaced by millions of players, Al can be replaced by very few.

I was also referring to CJ, your first Jazzfanz pet (although, obviously, he's way off on minutes).

One could argue there was clear and indisputable evidence, indeed, enough to overturn the call, during the playoffs.
