Players I don't want on this team next season

You really think we could pry PG13 away with Hood and two late-1st before the season starts? I don't.

Probably not, but I wouldn't say it's out of the realm of possibility. It all depends on how serious they are about tanking this season and moving on.

They could make Hood and Turner their first options and tank around them. I guess they would probably me more interested in Lyles than Favors too. That's a strong tank.

Anyone who thinks Hood and a few picks would get it done is smoking something good. I merely threw out what I think they'd ask for.

Why is that smoking something good? What else are they getting? Who else is offering? If Indy knows they cant keep him, then what incentive do they have to keep him?

The thing to say is: What are the Lakers willing to trade to keep him from being traded to another team in fear of him staying with w/e team he is traded to.

Who else is good enough to trade for PG and think they could convince him to stay on?

I guess Boston could deal the 2018 Brooklyn pick for him straight up. I doubt Boston wants to include anything beyond that though with how stingy they are.

CJ Miles would finally have that all-star season everyone's been waiting for. Remember, he'd only be fresh out of school had he not gone into the draft from HS but stayed in school and become an astrophysicist.

Not sure Utah should want to pay his next contract. He should definitely be on the table when considering trades. I wouldn't go so far as to say I don't want him back, but I'd be nervous about having to match a big offer on him after next year.

People who don't want Hill and Ingles back are nuts. We will take a step back losing either one of those guys, let alone both.

take a step back from what? Jazz are never going win a title with the roster they have.

The thing is that PG has tanked his trade value. All the rumors (probably from his camp) about wanting to go to the Lakers, and his contract status makes him much less valuable than what he would get according to his on-court production. He is probably only worth Hood/2 draft picks/Diaw for the Jazz unless he agrees to an extension right after signing (Which is technically illegal).

The Trade market is a lot about value but also leverage. Right now the Pacers have none. So they can be stubborn and just let him walk, or they can take less than they think they deserve.

They have a new GM, though; that's important in this scenario. Unless he's been greenlighted to tank, then he isn't surrendering George in the off-season unless it's for a haul.

Miles is a free agent (who I would totally sign if we can't retain Ingles).

You might be correct. I think if the GM is smart then he will have to read the situation and act decisively. I'm sure plan A is to try to build a strong team around PG this year and convince him to stay. That kind of strategy could lead to overpaying for decent veterans, or making risky trades that could lose them draft picks and flexibility. If they do all that and then PG still leaves they are gonna be hurting for a while. If they keep the same team PG is for sure gone, but they wouldn't hurt their future rebuild as much. If they trade PG they lose the chance at retaining him, and probably take an offer that will seem bad to their fans.

I am actually really interested to see this situation play out.

He's definitely trolling and it was hilarious. In all seriousness, I think Indiana would want something like:

Hood + Lyles + Exum + #24 + a future-first

What's everyone's thoughts on that trade?

I would do it

And now CJ Miles is a top 10 NBA 3pt shooter, so I guess teh CJ Miles fan club was right?

CJ would be a great addition. He is a good shooter, pretty good defender, and he can play a little bit of small ball 4 in a pinch. I'd rather have Ingles, but CJ would be a nice consolation prize who might be cheaper. I think he's a much better fit for QS's system as opposed to playing under Sloan.

After hearing Hoods locker room clean out comments...I really don't want him on the Jazz anymore. How hard is it to find a 20% three point shooter that plays no defense and gets hurt a lot?...Homey, any suggestions?

I kind of like what Quin said about off-season player movement:

1280 The Zone @1280sports
Quin Snyder on the team's free agents: “The thing that I’ve tried to emphasize… until they’re somewhere else, they’re part of us.”

So.....the current roster is awesome, I'd love to see them again after a summer of healing and individual growth.

And Utah was also able to sign him to a reasonable deal after his rookie contract, so the fact that he didn't turn out to be quite what we hoped, he was easily worth the contract he got. Imagine if he had that 40 point game right before he was a UFA, things could have gotten ugly.

Utah is about to be in that same boat with both Hood and Exum. As much paranoia as Jazz fans have about the blazers messing with us, the truth of the matter is that teams like to target UFAs of teams that are in a financial pinch, which means we will definitely have a target on our back next year in regards to Hood and Exum.
