What's new

Players only meeting.

What should they be charged with though? They barged into a house, which I think is an idiotic policy and strategy, but they were shot at first and returned fire. So what is their crime? If anything the policy on how they go about arresting people should change, because just banging down a door in the middle of the night and hoping for the best is stupid. I just don't really see how the cops did anything criminal or racist.
Well there ya go. You said it yourself. Change the system. I think that is what all this protesting and whatnot is trying to accomplish

In that he had one prey (his wife), and that the predation was about violence, intimidation, control, and abuse instead of sexual gratification, agreed.
Kind of surprising to see this from you. Rape is almost never about sexual gratification. It is an act of violence about control.

MYTH: Victims provoke sexual assaults when they dress provocatively or act in a promiscuous manner.
FACT: Rape and sexual assault are crimes of violence and control that stem from a person’s determination to exercise power over another. Forcing someone to engage in non-consensual sexual activity is sexual assault, regardless of the way that person dresses or acts.

I'm sorry, I must have missed your response to me earlier. What instructions did you say she disobeyed? Or Tamir Rice or Philando Castile?

Are you seriously saying that her boyfriend should be charged with her murder for shooting at armed intruders who broke in to his house? For defending his home? Kentucky is a stand your ground state, are you saying that doesn't apply in this case? Why not?

You can add a lot of other people's names to this list too. Hell, even resisting arrest shouldn't be a death sentence, but I'd like to think that these cases are the anomalies and aren't an absolute. Compliance will save you from trigger happy cops a lot more than it will get you killed.

This is such horse ****.

Correct, he has no accountability for being shot 7 times in the back in front of his kids and being paralyzed forever. BTW he is currently handcuffed to his hospital bed despite never being charged with a crime.

If all of you 'both sides' assholes could focus your trash devil's advocate energy in a direction for positive change maybe we could actually get something done. But no, anything to stall the conversation completely. We all know which side you're really on.

I am focusing on change. You're just too blind to see it.

For what its worth I've heard several educated black media members say walking out on the season was not the right thing to do and that they kind of played it perfectly. Jalen Brown was pro-continuing and he has been extremely active with the protests... I think the quick strike was the most effective way of continuing the conversation without burning things to the ground, which would have been bad for everyone involved.
That's a good way of looking at it.

I think Shaq had the best take on it imo.

I'm not surprised. Some of the **** One Brow argues is mind boggling.

Lol or like an adult you can put me on ignore like your emotional *** had the last 32 times.

All because I asked a sincere question you couldn't answer lol. Grow up, quit rioting.
You’ve gotten many answers, though. You are simply wrong and the way this played out could’ve been seen from a light year away.

What I don't understand is the all or nothing mentality. Like, why is it so bad for me to think 1) the cops should not have shot Blake in the back 8 times - they should have never had let him make it to the vehicle if they thought he was going for a weapon. They were wrong on so many levels to me and 2) don't resist arrests, fight cops and reach for anything - especially in front of your kids. It’s a recipe for disaster and for getting shot.

Why is this so triggering to some?

Please explain the 'change' you are focusing on.

You talk about trigger happy cops, cops who are supposed to PROTECT and SERVE the nations citizens. Instead of being outraged by the obviously terribly corrupt and racist police force you attempt to explain why these people were shot and killed without ever stating the obvious reasons.

Trash.

As far as I can tell no one is advocating for people to resist arrest or fight cops. Your entire shtick is to bring up unnecessary **** to divert the conversation away from the issue at hand, and then throw your hands up in indignation when you get called out on it, and pretend everyone else is just being unreasonable. It's entirely transparent.

Yes, more of what landed us in this wasteland of naïveté and ignorance, please.

I see what you're saying.

Trash.

I am outraged by the police injustices. I've literally written 100s of comments on it in the general discussion.

What's trash is your simple-minded finger pointing and labeling based off of one opinion or comment.

People like you think you're helping when you're the problem.

Trash, bro.

My entire shtick?
*focuses on the one part he doesn't like because he's an all or nothing guy*

It's laughable to say it's unnecessary to bring up something super relevant that leads to people getting shot.

Nothing got accomplished, broughs!!!!!

All parties agreed to resume NBA playoff games on Saturday, Aug. 29 with the understanding that the league together with the players will work to enact the following commitments:

1. The NBA and its players have agreed to immediately establish a social justice coalition, with representatives from players, coaches and governors, that will be focused on a broad range of issues, including increasing access to voting, promoting civic engagement, and advocating for meaningful police and criminal justice reform.

2. In every city where the league franchise owns and controls the arena property, team governors will continue to work with local elections officials to convert the facility into a voting location for the 2020 general election to allow for a safe in-person voting option for communities vulnerable to COVID. If a deadline has passed, team governors will work with local elections officials to find another election-related use for the facility, including but not limited to voter registration and ballot receiving boards.

3. The league will work with the players and our network partners to create and include advertising spots in each NBA playoff game dedicated to promoting greater civic engagement in national and local elections and raising awareness around voter access and opportunity.

“These commitments follow months of close collaboration around designing a safe and healthy environment to restart the NBA season, providing a platform to promote social justice, as well as creating an NBA Foundation focused on economic empowerment in the Black community.

“We look forward to the resumption of the playoffs and continuing to work together — in Orlando and in all NBA team markets — to push for meaningful and sustainable change.”
