Please, Hayward-Don't Just Stay But Sacrifice a Little for the Team

Hayward sacrificing doesn't change things for us like it did for Duncan or Brady... a few million only saves the Millers money doesn't open up options.

Get every penny Gordon...

Locke says he's signing a 4 yr with an out after 3 to sign a super max 10 year when the previous contact is up. Sounds like the logical thing to do as a player as you age to have that security

That's nuts. Listen, I know it's not my money. But it would just be so refreshing to see him do this ... as I think it's something Lindsey's talked about over the years. The idea of financially sacrificing in order to keep guys together and build a team. People can laugh but Spurs players have done this for over a decade. Why can't we? Hell, why shouldn't we?
Because Jazz have been at or near the BOTTOM of the league in terms of payroll for the last 4 years. They've banked enough cash to pay players. Why should Hayward or anyone else take a pay cut to allow the owners to keep exorbitant profits? It's time for Utah to step up and just pay the tax after their cheapness of being just barely at or under the salary floor for several years.

We can just do what we did with Stockton and Malone and pay him under the table with Hayward-Stockton-Malone-LHM dealerships

I like this idea of altruism by Hayward. But if the Jazz ask this of him, it would be a huuuuuuge mistake. It would harken back to his last free agency, and Hayward was not happy with how the Jazz did not offer a max out of the gate. I'd say it would be hello Boston.

I disagree. I could be the difference between a 12 million player and a 16 million player...

You guys criticizing me and twisting my words are dumb as ****ing doornails.

Once I get out of this stupid Crayola Experience, I'll text what I meant, because evidently, reading is not some of those on Jazzfanz strongest suit.

I posed how Lindsey should broach the subject with Hayward about two months ago. It's really not tough to bring this up like a professional with the guy, without him throwing a hissy fit and walking out like it seems many of you would.

Holy ****.

Yeah, but you realize the difference is this: Does Hayward get more money or do the Millers get more money?

So why should Hayward be the one taking less money? Hayward shaving 4 million a year off his deal wouldn't get us under the cap enough to sign a big name FA. It would just save the Miller's money.

Is that altruism? Taking less money so a billionaire family can spend less money? lmao

It's not just about this year.

I'd say this strategy worked out pretty well for Tom Brady and Tim Duncan...

Apples and orangutans.

When NFL players stretch, they do so for more guarantee money.

And the context for Duncan was completely different at that point in his career.

Jazz broaching this would be suicidal.
