Please Let This Be True

A guy was on CBS National Radio this morning and said AGod was the biggest potential GM and coach killer in the draft. The guy said he was a good defender with no offensive skills.

Gordon has got great passing instincts, moves well without the ball, finishes strongly, and is a good offensive rebounder. I'd say those are some offensive skills you can build off of.

Rodman made a career off of them, combined with defense and rebounds. Gordon will probably not be Rodman, but there are worse role models in terms of being a basketball player.

question is, did we just tank a season for rodman when we intended from the beginning to tank for jordan?

I think the CBS guy is off a bit. Embiid is the GM killer... either he becomes Hakeem and makes everyone that passed on him look stupid or he busts and gets the GM that drafted him fired. Exum is similar in that aspect. If you draft A-God at 5 at worst he becomes Kenneth Faried imo. Exum and Embiid could be Skita and Oden.

Does Andre Iguodala ring a bell? Players with this kind of athleticism, size, and BBIQ thrive in the league for a dozen plus years. Gordon's intangibles and extreme drive guarantee he's a good pick at 5. Did I mention his high BBIQ? Yeah, he's got plenty of that which separates the greats from the merely good players.

Much more than Rodman? DR was one of the best rebounders of all-time and an annual first-team all NBA defender.

Yes.

Rodman was largely one dimensional. The comparison is unfair. Rodman excelled at a couple things. Gordon excels at a lot of things. Beyond A-God's shooting, the rest of his game is extremely polished.

To me, there's a difference between excelling in college and being an NBA all-time great. But hey, that's just me.
