What's new

Pleiss

If he actually wants to come over it's not like we're losing a lot to give him a shot... Might as well, right?

Yeah... He was going to come over this year. He might be a big stiff, but he can't be worse than Cooley. His price tag will reflect the downgrade. Not sure what we can do contract wise but a 3 year deal at $6-$9M total wouldn't be a bad get for a guy who is productive in the 2nd best league in the world and is entering his prime. He would be playing 15 minutes a night max unless there were injuries.

er, if i recall, he is unhappy on his team because he is backing up tomic. who's to say that coming over here he won't be upset backing up a guy who is even younger than he is in gobert? while i always go for an unknown making a name for himself and becoming a story, i can't help but worry about his attitude here.

He looks really skinny. No shoulders.

Anyone that speaks Spanish better than me want to let us know if there is anything good said in the video? At least we learned Tibor speaks English.

oh how stupid of me you're right I didn't know pleiss was a European superstar - we better not let him get away then otherwise the jazz will be the laughing stock of the league. I still contend that the jazz could do better within the current NBA, but who knows how someone translates to the NBA. I just think you guys always think the grass is greener on the other side - ie because of the success of a number of players from Europe that all players will be a success. If he is so good why did the jazz bother chasing Tomic, clearly because they have a higher opinion of him. Anyway it's pointless expressing an opinion with you guys as you are so biased in your views you get offensive when someone expresses an alterative view. Maybe you lot are also the ones that think Neto is the next Stockton or Magic Johnson purely because the jazz drafted him. All I'm saying is that there are no superstars in waiting currently playing in Europe that I'm aware of, that's not to say that some of the younger ones can't turn out to be superstars. I don't follow basketball in Europe, but even I can remember the buzz that surrounded Rubio when he was at Barcelona.

Nobody is saying Tomic or Pleiss would be a superstar if they came over. We want them here as a 3rd big off the bench.

7'1 with a nice up and under as well as a left-handed hook.

I like he is able to dominate short dudes in the paint.

Seriously, though, I do like how he cuts to the basket. And he seems to have an unreal ability to get the ball to actually bounce into the basket. If he can play a lick of defense, even just rotating to the right spot, I'd be pretty cool with him here on the bench.

I feel like Pleiss, most-likely, is a serviceable back-up in terms of talent. If thats who we end up with backing up Gobert, I'll be pretty ok with it. Again, as long as he's filling decent back-up minutes to give Gobert some rest, that's all we'd need him to do.

With that said, it'd be such a bummer if we missed out on Tomic. Dude is easily the best passing center not in the NBA right now-- and I doubt there are ten centers in the NBA with his passing acumen. It'd simply be so, so huge for our bench offense to have a player of his calibre.

Marc, Pau, Joakim, Andrew, Ante? Or in some order close to this? Trying to think of 9 better than Ante.

Having said that, he'd probably get eaten alive defensively unless he decided to throw up a few weights every now an then.

Exum/Burke/Cotton
Burks/Hood/Millsap
Hayward/Ingles
Favors/Booker
Gobert/Pleiss

That would be 12 players plus the #12 pick with two spots left after that. I'd be happy with that roster moving forward into next season.

Draft a wing at #12 then add two more guys.

Or draft a player who can develop into a stretch-4. Favors really gives us flexibility as he can slide over to the 5 if needed. Or he can play all his minutes at the 4. If we get Pleiss, I'd still like to see Utah add a physical 4/5...someone who is 6'10 or so and can come in and bang against more physical bigs as needed behind Gobert.

5 Bigs
6 Wings
3 PGs
1 Open Roster Spot

Tomic said that Pleiss is dangerous in the paint. He has two good hands, hook shots, shots from 5 meters (in foot? Idk) - is important for a center.

"On defense, Pleiss is little bit better than me, with more block shots. He is important for us"

5 meters is 16 feet.

Let's get him. Jazz needs to be filled with European talent who understand team basketball. And a bird at hand is worth two in the bush.

An interesting rant. I hope you are having fun debating against yourself, since no one is saying what you say they are saying. Good day.
