Lets assume jazz could only keep one
at the same price.

meaning salary is not taken into account.

who would you keep on the team

Going with my gut and taking Burks. I honestly think he gets 20 ppg when he's a starter.

Even though I love Burks and think he can improve a lot still, I would take Hayward if they were both priced at the same time. Hayward is a special player and there aren't many like him in the league.

Hayward will be the better player on a good team. Burks looks great on poor teams because he can create offense on his own, but he doesn't contribute anything else. Burks on a championship team would be a 6th man, Hayward would be the 3rd or 4th best starter. So assuming we want to be a good team...Hayward.

If both players wanted $7M year and I could only keep one, I'd take Hayward in a heartbeat. If both players wanted $12M/yr I'd show both of them the door.

Too early to tell imo.

Its a toss up for me.

Burks needs hayward style minutes for a full season first...... though i think if burks got hayward minutes for a full season, burks would be looking better than hayward is right now

Though that probably has to do with hayward being in a role not suited for him right now

it's tough for me. I think Hayward has the chance to be really good as 2nd or 3rd option. burks looks pretty good as a #1 option but like it was said on a bad team. I still question burks ability to me a 2nd or 3rd option. I would like to see him play more with Hayward when burks is the primary weapon.

This is how I feel, too. I'm not throwing out the idea that Burks could learn to use his scoring ability as a 2nd or 3rd option, though.

The salary criteria makes it trickier.
Part of the problem with the Hayward argument is that he may demand $12-$13M. Burks likely comes in $4-$5M cheaper, even if he averages 17 pts/per. Under that scenario, I take Burks. Equal salaries, I'd have to say Hayward. Unless Corbin returns. Then it's likely we continue to get the Hayward we're seeing now.

thats the sentence that describes corbins coahcing to a T

Burks.....

Hayward gets caught up in this attitude of...

"The ball not going in the basket let me hang my head"

How many times has Burks struggled
In the first half, then came out and Balled in the second half!!!

The dudes is just ripe with confidence!!!

This should not even be a discussion. Burks is coming off the bench because our coach is a moron. Kanter and Burks are more productive then Hayward and Favors. There is just some bias out there for the other two because of the way that the franchise has promoted players to us. Hayward is the invisible man. How many times down the court is he just a ghost of a player. The same goes with Favors. When Burks and Kanter are on the court you notice the ball needs to touch their hands and this is when they are coming off the bench or are starting. The best starter we have is Marvin Williams by far. How many times does the front office shove Favors and Hayward down our throats. Yet, Burks and Kanter are the two that they don't say too much about and they are overly critical of the mistakes of Burks and Kanter.
